Rime - Beautiful, Simple, Okay

Rime had me hooked with its simple premise of getting to the tower for no clear reason by giving me sound game play mechanics and soft lush backdrops to frolic in while collecting toys and many other different types of trinkets. With a run time varying from 5-10hrs and the latter number for acquiring the 100% completion. Rime was able to keep me till the end even through it had several moments muddled by long load times, weird transitions and unrewarding collectibles. Rime gives you the feel of a personal journey but doesn't capitalize enough to leave you changed emotionally. I won't say the game is without emotion and one moment in particular where I found a secret grave site was impactful but overall this was more of a game and less of a experience. Most review outlets are spending their time comparing Rime to other games and experiences to which Rime draws similarities and I can't really fault anyone for trying to make their game in a some vein of a game they felt was impactful to them. Like they say in music, Music begets music and the same goes for games. Rime definitely is inspired by other titles but that's where it ends. Rime is a good simple game and decent entry level point for people new to puzzlers in which it won't really frustrate you when solving most of the puzzles you come across and if you can comprehend the meandering story you will most likely see the end of the tale. Rime's end which obviously I am not going to spoil with story details  but I will say it's explained in more of a visual absolute for closure sake and not having a impactful lingering tone. This will not be a classic but why does it have to be when it's compared to other great games. What Rime is though is a elegantly serviceable game and I keep my opinions from my first impressions about the musical score, which is reason enough to garner a full play through. There are also several moments where the environments wow and evolve. This goes especially for the second zone in the game and a section relatively close to the end to which definitely helped vary landscapes and articulate the mood of certain sections for a different feel. That is what Rime is a game that has a different feel. It treads a line that teeters on experience but still very much plays like a simpler game. With all of this I have no problem telling you to give Rime a Rent or Budget buy. It's a approachable Puzzler with experience overtones that won't leave you emotionally drained or charged but you should still fine it enjoyable.
