RIP Audioslave
Even though I'm a beer snob, I can't seem to get Yuengling Lager around here.

We'll share some when it happens. IMO, it's inevitable.
Hey myke, I can get Yuengling Lager any time you want it, at about $4.50 for a sixer. It's pretty popular around this area (being reasonable close to PA and all).

Rub it in, willya? ;)

I'm glad they broke up because Cochese kicks my ass eleven ways from Sunday on Expert in Guitar Hero, and I spent so much time trying to complete that track that I've vowed revenge on each and every one of their heads!
People are happy that they are breaking up because they aren't Rage.

No fucking shit. Audioslave was never meant to be Rage. If you thought that was what it was going to be, then you deserve to listen to Celine Dion the rest of your life.

Soundgarden isn't going to reform. Matt is with Pearl Jam, and who knows what Ben and Kim are doing.

I liked Audioslave because they WEREN'T Rage. I liked both. I also liked Soundgarden. Chris's solo work? Not real interested aside from a couple of songs ('Seasons' comes to mind).
I never expected them to be Rage, or Soundgarden for that matter. I liked Audioslave too, but I can't say I'm gonna miss them too much either. They were good, but I really never got the impression that they ever really jelled as a band and because of that never really became anything more than just 'good'. I just hope this leads all involved to move on to better things; be it reunions with old bands, solo careers or all new bands.

Audioslave was a band that started off as pretty freaking bad (see: the leaked 'Civilian' tracks), rebooted to actually get to pretty good, then went on a slow, inexorable descent into beer commercial/EA Trax fodder from there. They really seemed to be settling for becoming more akin to Nickelback than their own legacies. It might just be an unavoidable age thing as much as a chemistry thing.

In hindsight, I'm semi-amazed that we even got anything quality out of them, and I think Tom Morello is more of a capitalist than he'd ever like to consider, let alone admit.

Chris Cornell's 3-step method for success

1. Sound like a poor man's Robert Plant.
2. ???
3. Profit.

He just needs to disappear already.
Audioslave was the best band out there...period
 My internet sarcasm meter must be broken since Jimmie, but I can't tell if you are being serious or not. Shame on you if you are being serious though.

It's a little sad to see Audioslave break up, but we got three albums out of them, which is two more than I thought we'd get. :) It'll be interesting to see how the reformation of RATM turns out.
I think, in this case, the reason people are happy about Audioslave breaking up isn't so much that Audioslave isn't going to make music anymore, but that it opens up the possibility for the two superior bands that formed that supergroup to reunite. I know I would much rather have new Soundgarden and Rage albums than a new Audioslave one.
A Soundgarden reunion or a Rage reunion would suck ass. Is it even possible to name a single band that was once great that broke up for 5+ years only to come back and still be great (i.e. release new music on par with the old stuff - not just play the hits)?

Also, as much as I loved Soundgarden I pray they NEVER get back together because Matt fucking rules in Pearl Jam.
Audioslave was the best band out there, Apparently alot of you don't know what good music is.
Your name is morelloman and you think Audislave is better than Rage?!

Depends. Does Iron Maiden count?

Wow... it smells like pretentous music elitest in here...

How can you both call Audioslave overrated and applaud RATM?

They're both overrated. The difference is, one of those two doesn't suck.

tom morello is great whoever he plays with. I did not say I didn't like rage. They were great also, but they are not getting back together, yeah maybe for 1 concert (yay).

Good fucking riddance, now Chris Cornell can get back to singing good again. I'm sorry but audioslave isn't all that great. Chris Cornells great voice is no where near shown off in audioslave. I do feel bad for the rage guys cause they're talented but eh.

RATM will reform i bet you money.
