Ripped off by Amazon seller

CAGiversary!
This might not be the right forum to put this, but I don't know where it should go. Anyway, I'm looking for some advice and I don't know where to ask for help.

About a month and a half ago I ordered a used game (some Pokemon game for GBA, in case that matters) from a seller on the Amazon marketplace. I received the game fairly quickly and tested it out. There was a sort of strange message when the game first started and after a bit of research I found out that it was a bootleg copy of the game and could not save properly.

I sent an email to the seller(redstoneriver) asking for a refund or a replacement game. He never responded. I sent two more emails over the next three weeks, still no response. Looking at the seller feedback(which I should have done before ordering) it seems a few people are having very similar issues, none of which have been resolved.

According Amazon's policy they don't want to get involved in disputes with sellers. So what do I do now? Does anyone have any suggestions or been in a similar situation with an Amazon seller?

Amazon will get in the middle if they're selling the wrong thing. Do the A-Z thing to get your money back. If the seller doesn't defend himself, then you get the money back.

I didn't think the A-to-z Guarantee applied to marketplace purchases, I'll try that. Thanks for the quick responses.

I've had similar experiences with deadbeat sellers and always got my money back after filing a claim with Amazon. Good luck.

Is there a time limit to how long this needs to be done? I ordered in lated November, I think. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but when I found out it was a bootleg copy I tried to contact the seller. I gave him about a week in between emails to respond, and now it's already Jan 21.

You should have 60 days to file a claim with amazon. A seller is required to accept returns on all items sold through amazon and if they're selling bootlegs you'll most likely automatically get a refund.
also keep in mind you can only do 5 A-Z claims
Yes, like, EVER.

OP, if you didn't spend too much on this bootleg, I'd just let it go. I got burned on a scratched up Fighters Megamix that wouldn't play nearly two years ago, and I just let it go. I didn't spend too much for it, so it wasn't worth wasting a use of that policy.

Wow. Did you even bother to read some of the guy's reviews before you made your purchase? He's only at 89%, which is terrible but he's got a history of screwing people over it seems.

I'd file the A to Z guarantee quickly, I think there's only like a small time frame in which you can do it.

Yeah file it so this guy cant make cash off his bootleg pos games anymore..

So do you test out most christmas presents you give? How weird.
