Rise of Kasai back on bestbuy.com 4.99

It's a pretty disappointing game overall.

I kind of liked The Mark of Kri when it first came out, especially the gory fighting and the overall visual style. But Rise of the Kasai is simply more of the same with slightly improved graphics.... and a couple very small gameplay changes. I still do love the artwork and visual style used in the game though.

For $5 bucks it's a bargain however.. you could play worse.

The best thing about Rise of the Kasai is that it's almost exactly like Mark of Kri: the brutal violence, the cool graphics ("like Disney's Tarzan crew did Conan the Barbarian" is how one friend put it), the unique control scheme for fighting multiple enemies, and did I mention the brutal violence? :)

The worst thing about Rise of the Kasai is that it's almost exactly like Mark of Kri: the same lousy camera, the somewhat clunky controls, and the graphics didn't improve after 3 years - c'mon, guys, surely you could've at least made things a little less low-poly! The biggest innovation of the game was supposed to be 2P coop play - which got stripped out late in development, leaving you with a mediocre AI buddy.

Still, for 5 bucks, it's well worth picking up, IMHO. It makes a bit more sense if you've played MoK, but that isn't a requirement.

I picked this up the other day at the East Brunswick, NJ store. They had 4-5 copies left after I got mine if anyones interested. Haven't played it yet, but I loved Mark of Kri, and my credo is anything under 5 beans is worth it.

On a side note, there was also another game there that was for $4.99. Some card game......Dual Masters I think it was. It caught my eye cause the box was all sparkley.........as soon as I saw that it was a card game I dropped it like it was hot.....not my thing.

Dug the first one, so flaws aside, it's worth the $5.41 I just payed for it (in-store pickup). Thanks, OP.

Haha. Knew nothing about the game. The $4.99 tag lured me in a few weeks back. Sure beats the used copy at EB/Gamestop for $24.99
