Would it be a good idea to buy a used Sony PS2 controller from ebgames for $15 a/c? I don't want it to stop working quicker than a new one.

Anyone ever done this and have had success?

Personally, if through the website, I wouldn't-- there is no way to know the condition of the controller before you buy it. If you have a B&M store nearby, I'd probably check them out first. I've bought plenty of used controllers in excellent condition, but never online.

Well, it does say on the site if you're not satisfied with the condition, you could swap it. So if it does come in crappy condition, just swap it at one of the EB stores that have decent looking controllers.

I don't know why but the idea of holding a controller that had been held by another person with sweaty hands for hours at a time...

At least with games, most people (hopefully) only touch the game when they're putting it into the system or putting it away. Living in the dorms with a shared bathroom has made me realized how many people don't wash their hands after using the restroom....what if someone like that was using the controller, got really into the game, and their hands got all sweaty on the controller?

You must ascend to a level beyond germs. I have not acheived such a state, but I know someone who has.

Go ahead and buy it, if you don't like it, bring it to a B&M and exchange it.

Those used controllers are absolutely filthy though, I would disassemble the controller and sanitize it first, its not difficult.

Overstock.com has new 1st party PS2 controllers for $19.90, you can either use a 10% off coupon, or the $10 off coupon for signing up for Overstock auctions through Cheapyd's link, and get it for either $18 or $10. I would do that instead, if you can.

Buy.com has new controllers for $19.99. I just bought 2 and got free shipping via a special link. Also, if you get gray and green (like i did), then you can get a $5 Pricegrabber rebate on both of them. ($14.99 after rebate).
