A Robocop display that came out of no where from the Licensing International Expo 2008 that is currently taking place in New York! Hope they don't fuck it up!
It's a remake, the news has been around for awhile.

No Petter Weller no me in seat.
Agreed Peter Weller is RoboCop. No one can do the part like him.
Why does Robocop have a chin strap?
He always had one.

As for the new Robocop film, there have been rumors about the 2010 date for a while now. The film is also rumored to be filmed in 3D. Yuck.

Weller has stated many, many times before that he will never put the Robocop suit back on.

The final question is whether this is going to be a remake or a new story?
Are you just saying that you wont see it if he's not in it or you know he isn't in it?
hard to say at this point. Robocop 3 was horrible. Hopefully they won't make him sound robotic, or move with cheesy robotic sounds. The new robo will probably have his data spike only this time he has built in wi-fi

I also hope they keep his walking sounds, but knowing hollywood this will be retooled for pg-13, no blood, no hookers, and clean one liners :(

That's true... I think I read somewhere that he lost several pounds and other things because of the extreme heat wearing that thing.

I personally don't see a need for a reboot of the series. 1 and 2 were great films, but if they pull a superman returns on this one, where they make you IGNORE the 3rd film and put this one in it's place...then maybe I will check it out.

I remember seeing the first one in the theater when I was 7. I begged my grandmother to take me, and she did. Of course she didn't know just how violent and gory this movie was, so my best memories of this film are of watching he reactions to some of the more over the top gore scenes.

As long as the remake is rated R, and doesn't change too much of the original story I'll welcome it. The original will always be a classic, but I've always thought that the suit looked a little crap when you can see the turtle neck under the armor lol.

Maybe a better idea would be to used CGI to enhance the effects of the first three films, and then make a fourth.

I remember watching Robocop with my uncle when I was like 4-6. The dude melting was creepy, but the spike to the neck was awesome. I also grew up watching Alien and Predator... Movies were a lot better when I was 6.
Let me guess. They are shooting for a PG13 rating?
If it's as good as Iron Man then I don't care..... ;)

NOTE: May be a little graphic....

Ahhhhh....... the memories...... :robot:

Lame.

The first RoboCop was a hot, intelligent Dystopian joint, and the last two were corny kids movies.

The remake will be your typical Hollywood action-fest, I imagine.

3D?! Oh Hell No! :nottalking:

I hope they don't bastardize this like they did with transformers. Damn you hollywood, leave the 80's alone! They never did anything to you!

Actually hollywood had some good money making movies during that decade, with a few flops (howard the duck).

Just pray they don't retool howard the duck or else we are all screwed.

I'm all for nostalgia done right, but it seems like people are running out of ideas.. remaking movies, remaking old style cars, ect.

Being 3d would improve the chances of Weller being the voice...
Its going to be terrible. No way they get this right.
I fear this statement is true. These reboots/remakes don't seem to work too often, Batman being the obvious exception I guess.

Can't think of many others, are you that bereft of ideas Hollywood that you're remaking films from 20 years ago ? :nottalking:

Strange, I was watching the first movie last night and thought that they should try another one. I mean, if Indiana Jones gets another movie, why not Robocop? Hopefully it's not a remake.

It better not be rated PG-13. This is one series that needs to stay rated R.

I don't understand the cult following this horrible franchise has. All of the Robocop movies have been nothing but on screen abortions.

oh boy...

anyone want to explain it to this guy?

This Movie can be done right only if...Apple could make an itimemachine, and pay
Peter Weller like 20 million dollars for the role after RoBo one! Now we just need
to get Red Foreman aka (Clarence Boddicker) Real Name: Kurtwood Smith under
contract!!! I'll buy that for a few more Dollar$....LMBAO

It is VERY possible for the actor to wear a green/blue/black suit and then ILM goes in and puts in a CG body, there by making the new Murphy only wear the top parts for closeups.

Whatever happens, they need to put Weller in this movie, like a cameo or something.

this is for me about as bad as terminator 4 or Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins with batman playing john connor. I say only about as bad just because I'm more of a terminator fan then robocop. Not saying I dont like the robocop movies I just like the terminator (1 and 2) a little more.

Anyway lats just hope that the new robocop movie does not get a subtitle like most movies now. Hell just look at the terminator subtitle, or even the name. Atleast robocop wont be a sequal and a reboot. Atleast the terminator tv show has been better then the movies other then 1 and 2 maybe they will do that with robocop.

I'd love to see a true sequel to the first Robocop film. I recently re-watched this sci-fi classic and read a blurb that heralded Robocop as the best sci-fi film since Fritz Lang's Metropolis. I'm not saying it's that good, but damn it's close.

I guess I will have to check out Metropolis if it is said to be the best. Always looking for a good sci-fi film. Now that I think about my last post and saying that about a tv show, didnt they try a robocop tv show?

I ain't watching it, I don't want to know how they ruin a classic. I'll rewatch Robo 1&2 again though. 3 is garbage, just garbage.
