Rock Band 2 Bundle?

Ok, I've spent half the day looking for a deal on a Rock Band 2 bundle... in vain.

I was trying to find a retailer that not only had a deal on RB2 to begin with, but also accepted PayPal. That was very wishful thinking however, as that come up very empty handed. Most ebayers were already wanting a very generous $219.99 for it. I did find a $189.99 (shipped) that I could use Microsoft's cash back on however. I'd be waiting until after Christmas however to see that extra $44, so I bookmarked it in my head. $44 saved instantly could buy me some cymbals. =)

Next attempt, finding just a deal on RB2. Only place I found was DeepDiscounts (for $168.89 shipped). I've used them before but it wasn't the smoothest of transactions. So I just bookmarked it in my head for now.

So... here's what I'm looking for. Any brick & mortar or online retailer running any specials that I can get RB2 cheaper with. Last year Kmart ran a like %30 off coupon around this time... that would be great but I haven't seen one this year. I'm trying not to break $200 (tax & shipping included -- yes, I realize this probably won't happen and I'll have to drop the cymbals) for the bundle and at least 2 cymbals -- it's a birthday gift. I prefer the PS3 bundle, but if it has to be 360 I can probably work that out as well.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I feel your pain. I've been looking around on Ebay for the cheapest deal as well and 189 with the Live cash back is the cheapest I have seen anywhere.

For me, I'm debating whether or not I should just buy the original special edition and then just pick up the sequel. Some ebayers I have seen offered both games plus rock band 1's instruments at not that bad of a price. But if you buy the first special edition it is much much cheaper. Then you can afford the cymbals, extra guitar, and the second game.

I already have the first edition of Rock Band as well as everything that came in it's bundle. However the cymbals only work with the RB2 drums. Also, as I never picked up an extra guitar, getting the Bundle gives me the new drums, extra guitar, and the new game all in one.

As for yourself, note what I said above. The original RB drums WILL NOT work with the cymbals. The RB2 drums have 3 ports on the back that the original does not have. Also, I've played on the RB2 instruments -- they are much better quality than the original. So, I highly suggest not doing what you are thinking about.

I have a similar question... well it relates to RB2 at least. I'm trying to decide where to buy RB2 and it's coming down to Gamestop (some deal) or Wal-mart (large giftcard). First does gamestop even sell used rockband 2 bundles? If they do, are the coupons generally good for bundles like this or is it for games only, and if so, do they ever have coupons for used ps3 games at around 20% off?

To sum up:

1) Does GS sell the RB2 bundle used?
2) Do their coupons work on hardware software bundle products (generally)?
3) How often do they post used ps3 game coupons and for how much? (I see a lot for previous gen systems)

Thanks!

Thanks biscuit. It's out of my way to go to Best Buy, but the link you gave me says that some people are having luck at Walmart, Circuit City, etc. I'll try my local Walmart sometime this week and see if they will honor the deal. If not I'll have to hold off a little longer to go to Best Buy or find another deal.
I wonder if a Best Buy in Tennessee would honor this coupon, lol...
I live in Tennessee myself. No Best Buy really near me though. I'm gonna attempt to get Walmart to take it tomorrow evening. I don't hold much hope in that though.
