Rock Band Trapt, famous for Headstrong.. and.. yeah, dropped by Warner Brothers!

The problem with music is that the only way to get enough publicity to get your songs on the radio is to mimic an already popular group. That causes every band to either sound like The Strokes or Green Day or "Puddle of Mudd, Hoobastank, Simple Plan, Creed, Staind, Lifehouse, etc. ad nauseam...".

The only category where good music can come from anymore is rap. Non-generic beats + many artists on a track has potential for greatness. But the rap industry is crashing because the songs that become popular are absolutely horrendous and everybody knows it. That's what happens when the sales in your genre come primarily from 10-17 year old white kids.

Whenever you run into snobs and "toppers" in real life run in the other direction. You don't want to associate with them or respond to them at all. It encourages them and makes their mental problems worse. If you're feeling particularly masochistic you can try to change them but if they've already reached adulthood it's too late. They'll never change. My $0.02.

That's too bad for Trapt and their fans.

Being dropped by a major shouldn't hinder (no pun) a band with a solid following if the fans continue to support you. If Trapt just keeps touring and making music, they should be fine. Well, only that's if the musicians aren't greedy assholes.
Definitely forgive me if I'm wrong here, but weren't you the one that was blowing their wad to go see U2? One of the shittiest, most generic sounding bands ever.
No that wasn't me. I don't really like U2... but I wouldn't call them shitty or generic (well, maybe everything after Achtung Baby). If you grew up in the 80s U2 didn't really sound like anyone except for U2 at the time.
Who?
Exactly.
Woo hoo!!!!! I just scored Third Eye Blind tickets for me and the mrs. for October 26 on Long Island!!!!!
Waaaaaaaay worse than U2.
Waaaaaaaay worse than U2.
You forgot to add the rest of it:
I can't believe I'm actually going to see my secret shame in concert!!!
Plus, they are arguably more famous than any of the bands I named.
Hey - that sounds like a guy I used to work with. Only listened to fringe music, only drank imported or microbrew beer, didn't like anything that anyone else liked so he could be "eclectic" (his own word used to describe himself), used fifty-buck words in general conversations to showcase his formidable intelligence. He was definitely an individual (well, in the sense that he carefully crafted his behaviors and image so that he would be "different" than eveyone else, and in the process he became a completely phony, made-up person).
exactly. the fact you listen to bands no one has ever heard of does not make you cool or different.

i had this attitude to a certain extent in the past and it's very fake and immature. one can like mainstream stuff and also enjoy more obscure stuff.
Hey I've got an idea. Why don't you get your feelings hurt from being called a music snob and then try to derail the thread by pretending you don't understand the concept of an internet meme.
there's nothing to understand. they're just really god-damn annoying. they're the internet equivalent of that one jackass yelling "FREE BIRD" at every rock show, except there are thousands of you people.
