So i have been posting on the sotm and have come to realise that almost all of it is talk about kanye now. I have much respect for the real rappers out there like NAS and Kanye but none for that pop rap. So, i am starting the rock only SOTM Discussion. Rock includes punk, alternative, new wave, classic rock, and almost anything that you consider rock. Personally i Dont consider most metal rock but thats a personal oppinion but go ahead with it. I will start out by saying

Guster-All of Goldfly (album)
Sufjan Stevens-Chicago

Okay maybe hes not real but i have more respect musicly then alot of rock bands. Love And you will know us by the trail of dead. First time i heard them i was thinking i was in for some death metal but i got a nice suprise. also love the dead 60`s. Sound alot like franz ferdinand but not as catchy.

I'm so tired of Franz Ferdinand. Go away Franz, nobody likes you and your catchy "art" rock!

Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead
Built to Spill - Else

Sorry, I'm in a soft mood right now.

Sparks (ft. Mike Patton) - Something For The Girl Who Has Everything
Death Cab For Cutie-The Sound Of Settling.
That's a fantastic song. More people need to listen to Death Cab.

Currently: Foo Fighters - "Alone + Easy Target"

It's funny you mention that, their first big label release is about to drop, and it's getting medicore reviews. Be careful what you wish for.

Say it ain't so! I have a hard time believing it will be anything but fantastic, but if it's not then I can always just wait for the next Postal Service album. ;)

[Currently: Desaparecidos - "Hole In One"]

Murder City Devils - 18 Wheels

One of my favorite bands of the last 10 years, to bad they broke up before their time.

Any word? I loved the first Postal Service record.

And I want Franz Ferdinands "catchy art-rock"

In regards to the Death Cab major label debut...I have received an advance copy of the first single "Body and Soul" and I find it to be amazingly boring. :(

This is not suprising, although very sad. I am a big fan of most of their work up to this point so I'll give it shot. When does it come out?

On to the point of the thread.....

Ed Harcourt - The Storm is Coming

I have yet to hear anything but my friends have told me its a more postal service sounding record.
Motion City Soundtrack-The Future Freaks Me Out
Boys Night Out-medicating
Both are on fusion and both will outshine falloutboy on this tour.

If you want GOOD catchy pop tunes, check out the Stars, the Stills, and if you really need to have something Franz-esque, The Beta Band. All are 40 trillion times better.

The Beta Band - Liquid Bird
The Beta Band - Dr. Baker

Calexico - Corona

Regarding Death Cab, I was never a big fan of the Postal Service album. I am in the minority though obviously. I still have it though, but I rarely listen to it. If the new Death Cab is more like that, then I'll be disappointed.

- I will now sell four copies of "The Three EPs" by The Beta Band.
*Plays the Beta Band*
Customer: Who is this?
- The Beta Band.
Customer: It's good.
- I know.

Mr. Anderson, I must commend you on a fine fine fine choice by suggesting The Stills. Logic Will Break Your Heart is a fantastic record. I HIGHLY suggest is you like this sort of thing to check out Longwave.Several great records into their career, they just recently released a new one (There's a Fire) that while at first didn't hit me, has grown on me like ...well... something that grows really fast and out of control.

I just got a full discovery of the stills to listen to from a friend and i also love them. May i also recomend a band called the films to you along with them.

Like a fungus perhaps? :D Longwave is a solid band. I like them alot! The Stills are also good. Also, to piggyback on Mr. Anderson's suggestion, I would also recommend the Beta Band. Very underappreciated in my opinion.

The Delgados - Accused of Stealing

Hot Hot Eat-Mr Jingle Jangle

Great record and great live band.

Interpol-Evil

Wish i could see them live but im not going to be able to.

Whats the beta band like by the way.

hmm, rock and roll has fallen i guess. Im not going to try to continue this anymore but if i see a group of regs i would start it again.

Stereophonics-Superman

Great concert which was only .98$
