We have a Spongebob thread, now time for a Rocko thread :D. Yes, this show pwns. I even have every episode on DVD (recorded on VCR and converted to DVD):D. Pay your respect for this great show.
 
no. greatest cartoon is the simpsons.

I also got all the episodes. I just haven't taken the time to turn them into a dvd. I love the episode im which hefer and filbert make a date tape for rocko without his permission and they show him going up the stairs in slo-mo with hefer going "naked."

and the one where rocko gets fired so he gets jobs from the classifieds as a plumbers assistant "can you get that? thanks a lot. can you get that? thanks a lot"

and as a sex phone operator
rocko "oh baby oh baby oh baby"
mrs. bighead "rocko?"

I'll go one up and say I even have all the episodes before they were edited. Like the scene where Rocko, Heffer and Filburt are camping and they go berry picking ;). I'm sure anyone who has seen the unedited version knows what they actually pick. Just in case you don't.... There was a lion in the bush, and he was standing up. I'll leave the rest for your imagionations ;)


And the "Specialty Phone Service" was hilarious. "Huh, I can do that!"

It isn't the greatest cartoon ever but it is one of the top ten IMO.
 
Not the greatest (Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, Family Guy, etc. are better) but it's still a great show. I'd catch it if they still put it on air, but now they have all these shitty cartoons on because they think kids are stupid. Which they probably are.
 
Wacky Delly is one of the greatest cartoon episodes ever.

I used to watch Rocko all the time when I was a kid. If cheap season box sets came out I would pick them up.
I have to disagree that it's the greatest cartoon ever. That would be Futurama.

It definitely had a quote in it that I still use to this day. Hefer and Filbert had fled the country for some reason, and were stopped by a reporter. And I forget exactly how it went, but it was like.

- "Ne habla Espanol! And I don't speak English either!"
 
Obviously not the greatest cartoon ever (arguably not even the best Nicktoon), but very very good. It has one of the highest laugh to episode ratio of anything I've ever seen (and Batman: The Animated Series is the greatest cartoon ever... fools).
 
The show is fantastic.

I watched all four seasons last summer... I loved every minute of it. I was incredibly surprised at how much adult / subliminal messaging there was in it.
 
Unless your skills for reencoding are super elite, your vhs transfers to dvd will look like shit. I wouldn't touch them, unless you reencoded everything to remove the sound from the VHS transfers and removed artifacting. But I'm just anal that way.

As far as Nicktoons go, Rocko is one of the top few. However i much preferred the MTV Oddities block (The Head, Maxx & Aeon Flux).
 
Is Camp Lazlo done by the same people/original artist/etc? 'Cuz it looks incredibly close to the Rocko style.

Yeah, it was created by Joe Murray and a good portion of the voice people are on board.

It was an awesome cartoon, definately in my top 5 but I am not sure if it is my favorite. My Top 5 would be(in no particular order),
Rocko's Modern life
The Simpsons
Pinky and the brain
Fairly odd parents
Camp Lazlo
 
Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs in general is great. There are too many great cartoons however. Jonny Quest, Looney Tunes, and many of the older cartoon are great as well.

I wouldn't say it was the best cartoon ever (that honor would go to Duckman) but it was definitely one of my favorites. I think I've seen every episode.

We need a separate poll thread to decide which was best.
