Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

I'm looking to add another guitar to my collection, a (preferably cheap) one with a tremelo so I can start to learn/practice some techniques incorporating that. Specifically a double-locking tremelo, because the YouTube tutorials I'm looking at are recommending that for the kind of stuff I want to try out (dive bombs).

Anyone have any recommendations?

There should be another saying about guys who call it the "stimmy" not getting any "trimmy." I don't know what it is, but the word is irrationally annoying to me. I didn't get the last one because I made too much, and yet some people who did get one are buying shit and not paying their bills/rent/loans due to the forbearances. All the more reason why finance should be taught in grade school and high school, instead of being a specialization in college.

How easy is it to get custom songs for RS on steam? I play on Xbox (not that I’ve been playing lately, sadly). If it’s easy to get the custom songs for the game I might just go ahead and get the steam version too.

Its super easy.

Go to https://ignition4.customsforge.com/

Download a song and and add it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rocksmith2014\dlc

Open the game and play!

Edit: I forgot you have to buy Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock DLC then its good to go. All customs songs are based of this DLC id code so you have to have this song. They choose this song because it used to be free.

-but you "can" plug in with cable if you want, I think?

Also, no direct mention of any console version.

-I'm guessing it'll be a free to download app which would be more of a portal to the RS+ website (if it's even accessible thru consoles)

-they did mention mobile app's as "coming soon"

And they are adding tablature to the existing RS Highway view

 
That’s pretty disappointing. We’ve waited all this time for a new game and this is what we get? $15/mo, $40/3 mo, $100/year and doesn’t even include cross platform subscription
 
My initial thoughts were "It doesn't look too bad.  Some slight improvements but yeah I wish they would have added drums/keyboards.. looks like only a minor upgrade, but I'm sure I'll end up buying it anyway, because a slight improvement is still an upgrade."

And then I saw the $15/month subscription fee.

NOPE.

I don't play enough guitar in a month right now to make it worth anything near that.  I've been wanting a new Rocksmith for so long, and now I'm going to pass on it. :/

I have two frames of mind on Rocksmith+. I mean yeah $15 a month/100 a year is expensive and I'm questioning if it's worth that once you get to a certain level of proficiency since RS 2014 has everything you need.

However I will say for a beginner, $15 a month if it has better beginner training tools might be worth it for some people over going to lessons which would cost way more per month.

 
I saw a lot of people on facebook on the announcement raging over this, saying they'd just go to a local guitar store and get lessons, and I'm thinking, that's gonna cost way more than 15 a month/100 a year for that.  Just amazes me at knee jerk reactions to things people don't like these days.

 
But even though rocksmith can help teach you guitar, it isn’t the same as lessons. One of the many nice things about RS was that it was a single price and NOT a recurring fee like lessons or that thing that Fender offers

So grab em while you can, or maybe this means they'll show up as CDLC for steam after they're no longer available from Ubi??

I've got some xbox funny money so thinking about buying the export pack so i don't have to dig out the 360 disc and play the old version if i ever get the itch to hear those included songs...

I dont actually currently play rocksmith, but had been looking into buying the export before any potential delistings after missing out on various other rhythm game exports in the past before they were delisted, and coming to regret that years later. I bought the rocksmith 2011 import on xbox 360 already, but hopefully it will still carry over to the xbox one version. I've heard you actually have to claim it through the in-game store, but I havent purchased the game on xbox one yet. Going to try and get it on steam as well, hopefully there is a last chance sale lol

yeah i go in spurts myself too. for xbox at least there doesn't seem to be an option to buy the export from any storefront so i think it has to be from in the game. if you exported from 2011 to 2014 360 and it's considered DLC it sounds like you'd be ok on X1 but that's just my guess. You'd definitely need to buy an X1 copy though. It goes on sale occasionally for ~$8

 
Thanks for posting! This is going to make me figure out what I actually own Rocksmith-wise on each platform, and maybe dust off the ol' electric guitar and bass!

Edit: Getting the RS1 import songs on my PS5 was a chore, but it's done! I tried everything I could think of, but finally was only able to get it to work by first downloading them onto my PS4, then using the PS5's data transfer tool to move them over to the PS5. There's no store listing for the import pack, and the in-game store doesn't download them, even though the pack shows up there.
