Rockstar Classics-GTA, Wild Metal and GTA 2-FREE Downloads

I didnt have any idea about this. I i have been on there mailing list for years, lol. Dont let them get to you CheapestGamer. It was news to me, for what its worth, lol

Even if its old news, in a case like this there will be a lot of people who didn't know. Plus free = always a deal.

I didnt know about this either. Was on the fence about buying the bundle from Steam, but even if I don't I can still get the first 2 for free. Thanks!
This is why I don't post deals, since there ALWAYS has to be the negative people coming in and saying 'omg that's old'.
Doesn't matter if a deal is old, a deal is a deal. This hasn't been brought up in a while, so thanks. :applause:

Even though I already downloaded these a while ago! ;)

haha, I'm not going to say anything IATCG, but I can't help but think the Steam deal caused you to want to post this. While I have these .exe's saved forever now, I still went thru Steam for the guarantee that they will work on any PC I were to get in the future, no matter what...

I bet those free files from the website will crash horribly in Windows 7..

They've been free for years, what do you expect?

There is no guarantee that the Steam version of any non-Valve game will work on future OS's (and sometimes even current ones). And there are examples that basically show that Valve support doesn't care.

Thanks for posting, I never knew about this.

I remember playing Wild Metal on my Dreamcast a long time ago. There's a game Rockstar should remake/make a sequel for.

I might download these since I never got to play the original Grand Theft Auto or finish GTA2. I have been enjoying GTA:Chinatown Wars on my DS that I got cheap from Blockbuster a month or so ago.
thinking about downloading them even though I have a classic 3 pack for the PS1 with GTA, 2 and london.
I forgot about GTA:London. Hope that game is available soon on Rockstar's classics/free download.

Thanks IATCG, I too had no idea.

To all the negative people who says it's old, STFU and stop trolling.
Look at the all the CAGs who didn't know about the deal.

And it's not like there was a sticky and previous post on the front page.

If the deal is still going on and it's not actively discussed, it cool to remind people.
Welcome to 5 years ago
6 years. Since 2004...

We've actually had at least 12 threads on this, but when CAG switched over we lost them. Currently there are 3 threads on this, most back in Jan though.

If people have a newer version of Windows(on XP here on a 4-5 year old computer:razz:), they could always try using the compatability wizard in Windows.

To all the haters, don't fucking reply and bump the thread if you think it sucks. If you actually did that, the thread would sink to the bottom and you'd never have to see it. Sadly, this method actually assumes you have some intelligence.

Sadly, some older versions of software are 16bit which do not run on Windows7 64 bit since it does not allow 16bit code to run even in compatibility mode. You may be able to look to something like DOSbox if you run into that problem

I downloaded these a few months back, they all work great and I'm running on Windows 7.

It says "Choose from the games above" as if you can only get one, but from the replies here I gather you can download all three, correct? I'm not home right now so I can't just chance it and see, plus if I can only do one after all I'm not sure which one I'd pick. :whistle2:?

But then how would they get the smug sense of superiority that is their only source of pleasure in life?

fuck all you haters. HOW DARE SOMEONE TRY TO HELP OTHERS! You should be ashamed OP! For shame SHAME!! LOL

Thanks for posting IATCG :D

Well, Steam has Wild Metal for $79.99 (apparently you have to buy EVERY Rockstar game in a bundle)

So free is still a deal even today.

BTW, that 80 dollar behemoth Includes 13 items: Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Manhunt, Max Payne, Max Payne 2, Midnight Club 2, Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Wild Metal, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City

Thanks, OP.

Too bad Al Gore didn't create 2 internets; one for decent people and one for bitter, obnoxious douchebags. SMH at Al Gore for lacking foresight.

Awesome thanks! Didn't see it the first time so it is nice to have a reminder, this isn't like a weekly add deal that is among the first posts so don't worry about the tough guys.
Since most here don't seem to be aware, there is a thread stickied in the PC section with nearly 1300 games that are free and legal to download, these Rockstar games are included on that list: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244468
Except with a ginormous list you end up having to fish around to find the right heading that games you might want are under. Moreover, there are no descriptions of what the games are about right in that thread you linked, which means folks will have to go to ANOTHER spot to find out about each game.

But it is good to know that there are quite a few free PC games to download and play available.

Thanks for the heads up on that.;)

This is totally relevant thread. I was thinking about getting the GTA pack currently on sale on Steam and was about to waste some money on it (already own 1 or 2 of the newer titles). I will just pick up Vice City separately and download the old ones for free. Thanks TC for saving me money!

haha, CAG does not disappoint. Every year I begin to wonder when this deal will make an appearance.

Wow. This post was worth it just for that list.

I do laugh, because I think I was the OP on one of the other posts for this deal. Thanks anyways.
