Rodney Dangerfield is dead at 82.

It's very unfortunate, as he was a true comedy legend. I too also heard about that on the Fox News Channel around 5 pm. Athough it's a great loss, I can't say that I'm completly surprised. For one, he WAS 82, and that's a pretty great lifespan if you ask me. Also, he was in a coma for quite some time, and his recovery seemed iffy at best. So while it was a bit of a shock to hear that, it wasn't as a stunning of an announcement like John Ritter's sudden death last year, it was something we might have expected to hear within some time.

But still, it's a great loss, but at least he left a great comic legacy behind. Now, he will have a great deal of respect.

Yeah, I was incredibly shocked when John Ritter died.

I can't say that I was shocked by Rodney's death, though. Ever since he fell into a coma, I knew that his time left was short. Fortunately, he got to live a long life, which is something rare when it comes to great entertainers (especially comedians).

What's really sad is that they did that procedure on him to improve his blood flow, etc. in order to avoid surgery complications... and it seems like it just worsened things for him.

He will definitely be missed; he was one of a kind.

I didn't think he had much time left after I read that he came out of a coma a month or two ago.
Caddyshack, Easy Money and Back to School were classic 80's comedies.
RIP Rodney...he had my respect.

too bad. he was a really funny guy. Very sad. rest in Peace Rodney Dangerfield.

Ritter was a true pity since the guy seemed super healthy and then boom it hit him.
