Rogers Video 2/40 on pre-played games

TtotheE

CAGiversary!
I posted this on RFD. might as well post it here.

I was just at my local Rogers Video and they had signs 2/40$ on all pre-played games. I'm not sure if it was just the store near here but it's worth a check. I asked them when the deal would end and the manager said tomorrow so I would hurry up. I imagine most stores are still cleared out from the 2/30 but it is worth a check.

No dice at my rogers...they actually had an awesome selection too. Bioshock, Two Worlds (lawl), Metroid Prime 3, Mario Strikers. Would've definitely liked Prime 3...

I'll be going to a different rogers so hopefully they actually
have a good selection. Id be very happy to get
ninja gaiden,bioshock,vf5 and some good psp games.

First post with ipod touch. LOVE this thing.

Bah, since when did RV put those Rogers Video stickers on the manuals? My MoH: and BioShock manuals have that big ugly ring on the front :\

ya mine did that on a few as well :(

btw if anyone wants to do a trading of games let me know :)
I've got plenty for trade

Congrats on gettin Firestorm, Bioshock. I mean congrats on gettin Bioshock, Firestorm. And everyone else.

Ok. Went to Victoria & 41st and Surrey Central

Victoria & 41st:
Picked up
- Bioshock x2
- Metroid Prime 3
- Super Mario Strikers

Left:
- Bioshock
- Super Mario Strikers
- Resident Evil 4

Surrey Central:
Picked up:
- Bioshock x2
- Metroid Prime 3
- Resident Evil 4

Left:
- Bioshock x4
- Metroid Prime 3 x2
- Crackdown
- Two Worlds x2
- Lair x2

Surrey Central has a 2 per game limit =) If I can't find a friend who needs Bioshock, I can sell it to a Vancouver CAG at cost. The rest are for friends. Bioshock x1 and Super Mario Strikers x1 is for me.

^Nice one. I might go check out another RV later today if I can get a ride. Hopefully I can scrounge up another 40$.

if anyone cares...if you buy Warhawk at Rogers they should give you the bluetooth headset aswell. I got the headset with the two copies I bought

Interesting... too bad I haven't stumbled across that yet. ;)

Probably go down and try. Check to see if theyh're doing the deal beforehand too I guess. They might have received the email. Surrey Central didn't get the message yesterday but they knew today.

yo! magiic pleaaaase sell me the other headset. I lost the one I bought and it sucks....Im a collector too, so I want it(its a cheap headset, but to go with the ps3...)

I decided to trade in one of my Metroid Prime 3s towards Phoenix Wright 3 since it's a straight trade pretty much and I realized most of my friends interested (except one, who the other is going to) already have MP3. The guy in front of me asked the clerk what was better Bioshock or Two Worlds.

"Well, Bioshock is one of the greatest games on the 360 right now. Two Worlds is one of the worst"

Haha, EB Metrotown does have some guys who know their stuff nowadays =P

Well I saw Bioshock and The Darkness today at my local blockbuster. I have them on hold. I really want to pick up Vampire Rain. (I am aware it sucks)

picked up Bioshock and Two Worlds, both with the ugly Rogers stickers on the manuals.

i'm seeing a lot of Rune Factory for the DS too. sucks that we picked it up new..

I love peeling them off to reveal the wondrous void sticker which also needs to be peeled off lol.

Crap. I just found out that my Rogers uses the same damn super-residue stickers on the opening side of game cases, just like EB.

I can't escape these things anywhere. :bomb:

Should I invent in some Goo Gone? What other sticker removing products are out there (preferably ones that are scentless)?

The Rogers Video on 41st and Victoria is pretty amazing. None of their games have the huge Rogers ring sticker. They don't write all over them with sharpies either =)

Too bad the selection is usually poor.

My copy of Eternal Sonata had no ring stickers on the disc or manual, or even any ink on the disc either. That almost never happens, I think this is the third game EVER that I have bought like this from RV! (Others being Gears of War and Virtua Tennis 3, heh.)

Having said that, I haven't had a ring on the manual since I bought Reisdent Evil 4 on the Gamcube there, shortly after it was new. I can't complain there, because they're impossible to get off the manuals! :censored: I meant to hit edit not quote for this, I just woke up sorry. :p

Why would they slap them on the manuals anyway? The loc. where I bought my games from doesn't even include the manuals in the rental copies...

You can ask for them, depending on the person you get at the register. Some will pull them from rental copies for you, and they sometimes have a stash of extra manuals in a drawer that they can quickly flip through. Other times though you'll get the employee that says "what you see is what you get", or "You won't need a manual for this game anyways", then give you a GTFO look.

Point is, it never hurts to ask! I'd have lost out on a Blue Dragon and NG Sigma manual yesterday if I didn't, and plenty more before that time. All it costs is 5 seconds of your time! :applause:

As tedious as it sounds, I find the best way to remove the stickers from the manual is peel it very slowly. While you are lifting it off the manual lighty rub it as well. That usually gets the extra residue off. You can also put a hairdryer to it for little bit to help heat up the glue. I can do it without having any of the void marks to deal with. Naturally, you are going to have some extra "goo" on the cover so just use the sticker you already peeled off and lightly touch the areas where it is still sticky. Eventually you will get the residue off. .After I finish I wipe the front and back with some windex in a paper towel. That usually does the trick.

Don't bother with Victoria & 41st unless you want Resident Evil 4 (Wii), Def Jam Icon (360), Fight Night Round 3 (360), or Valkyrie Profile 2 (PS2).

Once I went to get a game from EB, and they only had the shelf copy. I asked for a discount. The manager said why 'game is new, never been played'. I said #1 it was for a gift (it wasn't), so what is the diff between that non-cellophane version and a used copy? #2 I hate that super-residue sticker you guys put on it. He said it just comes right off. I already wasn't going to get it, because of the cellophane issue, but just to see him squirm, I decided to let him eat his words. I said, if you can get that sticker off without gunk remaining, and without damaging the case, I'll buy it. 10 minutes later, as he was rubbing it with nail polish remover, I walked across the parking lot to Wally-Mart, and bought it.

I love usuing goo gone on cases. It even takes off permanent marker of dvd discs. I find when I use it for instruction manuals it leaves a bit of a grease mark.
here is a new one
I had one of those ring stickers take some of the silkscreen off a ps3 disk :O
O_O!

That's terrible! :O

ya I was pretty choked, I've destickered a lot of disks over the last months of these sales but I have NEVER seen that happen before lol
kind of choked it's over today mine had a bunch of AMAZING DS games but the sale was over :(
I always forget to look at the DS games. There were quite a few good games that I wish I got but then again... no money.

See I have oodles of money from all the photo/video work I do + my real job. So money isnt the issue it's just them having the game the sale

Looks like I missed this one, but that's fine, got a bunch of good stuff from the last one anyway. That and also, I don't have the cash to spend anyway. :p

One would be surprised just how well a roll of Canadapost invisible tape (the wide tape with the blue and red Canadapost sign right through it). The plastic of the tape itself is strong and feels heavy and the adhesive, save a few small exceptions, will lift off anything. The best tape to use for good I find. I managed to take off goo from several year old stickers off of paperback books and also residue that other tapes can't.

With all your money you could easily just buy them BNIB and save yourself the hassle of running to RV every day, removing those annoying stickers, missing manuals, scratched discs, and banged-up cases. ;)

But of course that's no fun, right? :)

Im a cheapass at heart lol

I bought this stuff from the hardware store for removing glue. $20 for a litre. Kind of a gelatinous transparent liquid with metaliic silver bits in it (though not gritty). I can't remember what I bought it for, or the name of it. I can look if anyone cares. Anyway, I used it to remove one of those stickers one time; I applied the goo, and when I went to rub, it rubbed a large chunk of plastic off, and instantly disolved the picture on the sleeve. In the bin with it.
