playing Final Fantasy Tactics. getting frustrated. don't remember the GBA version being as difficult as this. i get wiped out easily by black mages...
What is the deal with the Persona 2 re-release including no bonuses by still costing $40? :cold:
It's strange Atlus hasn't announced any sort of pre-order or limited edition bonuses yet.

Then again, it doesn't come out until 9/20 so there is still time, maybe they're putting the final touches on something.

Or maybe not. Eh, doesn't matter, still picking it up at release.

Atlus is making final underwear designs, that's why it's taking them so long for them to announce the bonuses
Woo! Looks like FFXIII-2 is dropping on January 2012 in America, now I have another game to pre-order
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1182374p1.html
It's kind of ridiculous how excited I am for that game. The main character looks really annoying though. Like a cross between Hope and Snow, my two least favourite characters from XIII. Recruiting monsters seems like it will add a huge variation to the battle system which I already think is the most fun of any RPG from this or last gen.
There wasn't really anything that came with P3P either, unless you count Junpei's hat. And it's also $40.
I wish I still had my P4 art book. Atlus are the friggin kings of preorder and limited edition swag.
There wasn't really anything that came with P3P either, unless you count Junpei's hat. And it's also $40.
Their hands were kind of tied with that one though, since it was the third edition of that game and both previous versions had been packaged with a soundtrack and artbook. So they sort of had to come up with something different. :)

January release for FF13-2 suits me fine. That should be plenty of time to finish it off before ME3 hits. I'm also not impressed with the new lead, and I never liked Serah much either. I'm hoping that the party isn't going to be Noel-Serah-monster for the bulk of the game. I want my Lightning and Fang back.

Lightning was a badass lead, I liked her a lot, I'm not really into Noel either, but hey, this game will still probably be good

Yeah I'm pretty pumped too. Final Fantasy XIII and Tales of Vesperia are about the only JRPGs I've played this generation that I thought were slam dunks.

I agree, we need some more excellent JRPGs (Looking at you Atlus, bring us Persona 5!)
(Looking at you Atlus, bring us Persona 5!)
I wonder if the multiplatform-ness of Catherine has any bearing on whether the next Persona game will also be multiplatform. Assuming it's not for Vita or something.

I hope so, I mean Atlus could just use the same graphics engine for Persona 5, and I would be happy. I seriously hope it's not for Vita, I don't think I'm going to buy one until the price drops or something (bought my PSP on day one...yeah I have barley played it)

That's exactly what I'm hoping, that Catherine was sort of an "engine test" for Persona 5.
and we're still getting 3 more major FFs in the next 2 years.

it's exciting, but also kind of sad =[
Hopefully there won't be another
shitty
MMORPG FF game again...but yeah, I wish Square-Enix would release a major one every 3-5 years

Deluxe edition unboxing video over in the Catherine thread. Actually makes me feel pretty good about skipping this. The preorder artbook was the one thing that was making me kinda sorta want to not wait, but it looks pretty small and dinky. Now I feel good about waiting and seeing how low the price will drop. Oh, and... Katherine > Catherine.
Katherine > Catherine.
:)

I kinda want to just downgrade to the standard edition, but the pre-order is a gift from somebody, so I'm just going to stick with it
Yeah I'm pretty pumped too. Final Fantasy XIII and Tales of Vesperia are about the only JRPGs I've played this generation that I thought were slam dunks.
FFXIII was a slam dunk alright, into the toilet. This message brought to you by Hater McHaterski.

I think my thing about Catherine is I just can't imagine a game where all I do is block puzzles. I mean I get it has a nice story and all but I just can't do block puzzles all day. It's not my thing.

I may pick it up when it hits a $20 level but not for $60.

Also Square Enix needs to stop with the MMO games. You are not Blizzard so your MMO is destined to fail. Hopefully these new FF games (not including FF XIII-2) will be good. I hated FF XIII.

Word!! I hope they go back to the more traditional format, at least as far as exploration goes.

exploration always felt cheap in the older FFs anyways. it's fun in a nostalgic sense but that's about it for me

i liked towns though =p. ff12 still amazes me with the amount of detail put in the cities.
And FFXI was a very successful MMO, still going too.
Yeah that's why they don't need to make more. Just keep doing what you been doing well, better. Your not going to win against WoW so if you keep what works, you will be fine.

I rarely ever pre-order/buy deluxe editions, I just don't have room for the crap they give (or want it half the time). Plus, the t-shirt and boxers wouldn't fit me by a long shot. I'll be happy with the standard copy.

And yes Katherine > Catherine. Gotta love them glasses.

Ha, yeah, I definitely wasn't considering the deluxe edition, I'd probably have to gain 100 pounds before the clothes would begin to fit me, those things always seem to be XXL. But the artbook and soundtrack come with the regular edition as well, if you preorder.
ME2 > DA2
KOTOR > ME2 > DA2

So apparently I'm the only one that thinks

DA2 > ME2.

I guess I'm not really surprised at that though, haha.

Also

Lost Odyssey > previous gen JRPGs > this gen JRPGs
Lost Odyssey > previous gen JRPGs > this gen JRPGs
I totally forgot about Lost Odyssey, good game, I never got around to beating it though

I made this, just for this thread ;)

I'm seriously thinking about playing Morrowind again. Haven't played it in years, put a ton of hours on it and its two expansions.

Hank is everything that is wrong with the videogame industry.
What's the story on Persona 4 Portable? Is it happening?
The answer to that is currently mo. They didn't want to cut content like they had to do with P3P. But if they see some money to be made with the Vita I'm sure they'll reconsider it.
ME2 > all other games
You just mean all other RPGs, right? ... RIGHT?!
Katherine > Catherine.
There is absolutely nothing I like about that woman, except for maybe her personality! Catherine > Katherine.
Catherine 2: Lesbian Edition
Catherine is pretty good at seducing somebody who is drunk as fuck. Then again, so is Hank.
Can't we all just get along?
Catherine 2: Lesbian Edition
Preordered.

Usually I'm the one that's drunk as fuck.
Did you say something?
All I hear was white noise.
Usually I'm the one that's drunk as fuck.
So where's your Catherine?!
So where's your Catherine?!
I hung out and partied with her two weeks ago, she got too drunk and her friends were playing Mother Hen, pulled an emergency escape on me.

You can't stop the hunter from catching his prey.
She is in Hank's dreams, doing the killing
That'd be one scary ass dream. @__@

Atlus still has Catherine to talk up. Once that's out, I'm sure they'll start talking about P2 and its bonuses.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even if P2 doesn't get an LE in North America, it may very well get one in Europe (as P3P did).
