RROD/ Microsoft Update today?--Please help

Just bought GH3 and started playing it yesterday when my 360 started freezing in the middle of the game. It happened again today, and upon reboot, I got the RROD. I turned the box off and got on the phone w/ Microsoft--and when I flipped the box back on, it booted up to the dashboard, but is trying to download some kind of update on the dashboard.

Is anyone else having to download an update today? Any idea what's going on w/ my 360? Could the problem be my GH3 disc? Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: The update wouldn't download and my 360 froze again. I rebooted, and I'm back to the RROD.

The same thing happened to my xbox yesterday while my girlfriend was playing Team Fortress 2. The game froze and turned pink, then after I rebooted my xbox I got the RROD. We did the towel trick and it's been working fine for about 5 hours now or so. To answer your other question, I just turned on my xbox and it had me update but I'm not sure what the update was for.
