I think I really want this game, but, just about everywhere I have read has given Rule of Rose a less then stellar review. Now I have played supposed "bad" games in the past and absolutely loved them. So I wanted to pose the question to the hardcore survival/horror fans that have played this game. How is it? Worth $30.00?

I was one of the anxious few who anticipated it months before it came out. I bought it at full price (okay, with some flipping of some EB games with the trade three get $10, it only cost me about $25) and loved it. Yes, I've played a lot of survival horror, all of the Resident Evils, Dino Crisises, Silent Hills, Clocktowers, Haunting Ground, and let me tell you, I thought Rule of Rose's story by the conclusion was the strongest of any Survival Horror I've played. Great graphics, if you care. A lot of violin audio by the Panzer Dragoon Saga guy, which was a definite plus. The one thing I think everyone thinks about this game, me included, is that the combat sucks. I think there is one gun, maybe a secret gun as well, so it's all melee, and clunky at that. Still, it's original in other gameplay, using the dog to help the main character like in Haunting Ground, but this dog has more storyline connection. Personally worth it for me.
