Rumor: Best Buy taking ps3 preorders 11/2.

I can guarentee to you that Best Buy will not be taking pre-orders in any shape or form. They do not like taking them, and if anything you might see a few come up online, but i doubt it after the 360 fiasco. I know that they did a few for the 360 for online purposes, but as for in store, they will be keeping it first-come, first serve. Working at Best Buy, I'll guarentee it to you.

I have seen some pretty outrageous allocation estimates for best buy. I know nothing is "confirmed" but do you think BB will get around the 50 per store some have said or closer to what EB/GS got? (16 per store)

Also, someone mentioned that for the Xbox360 the midnight release stores got an insane amount (~300). Do you expect the same for PS3?

I overheard some guys working at bestbuy yesterday, and they were saying they were expecting somewhere around 100 units at launch.

Slim to none on them taking preorders and unless you live in a big time city about the same chance of them getting 100 systems. My local BB had an employee telling everyone that called the day before release they were getting around 100 total.... They got 34 total and many many more pissed off customers.

its hard to predict what amount we might get. But i'm going into work tonight and i'll see if anything new has been posted. If not, then i'll just continually check until i can get an answer for you people. At that point, i'll see if i can get a list of how many each store is getting.

I don't think this is out of the question. The PS3 is a high end [expensive] electronics device, why not give the bulk of them to the electronics chains? Shaft the Wal-Mart & Targets until spring. Makes sense to me.

Best Buy took preorders for the 360 last year only for Reward Zone members... so they do do pre-orders just not sure if they will do it again this year.

So, could a BB employee speak up please? I'm tired of these 1000's of threads of speculation and creating such retarded hype.

No preorders. I've been with BBY since 2004. Nothing in the inventory system for any store in my district in respect to allocation numbers yet.

Well I know for sure that they did pre-orders, though they called them "Reserves" for the 360 for reward zone members last year because that's how I got mine.

I doubt they will repeat it this year because they let everyone join the reward zone now so the deals have started to suck since they stopped getting their 10 bucks a year.

I just called mine in Arundel Mill, MD. They said they are not taking any reserves. Just launching on launch day.

a while back bestbuy said from an offical statement, saw it on the Feed on Attack of the Show, that they will no do preorders.

I talked to the BB game manager and he said no pre-orders, but some stores will be opening at midnite and the others opening at 8 just for this event. But he said he doesn't know anything about how they are going to do the Wii.

When was the last time Best Buy did in-store preorders? The Dreamcast? I got a slip for that, but that's the last console I remember offering this option. Of course, that console launched in early September and--admit it--was kind of stillborn considering how much of the general public was already resigned to waiting for the PS2, almost fourteen months before it launched. No, Sega's swan song system never had a chance.
