One of the leaders in retail, best buy will be a getting AT LEAST this many. After taking an average of diverse locations directly from Best Buy’s retail stock system(RSS) the total number units indicated is aprroximately 80-90 units. this ranges from 120 in the more popular stores to just 24 in bufu. not only that, but games such as red steel will be roughly 60 in number, and trauma center 30. these are just PRELIMINARY, that is the very first order for all stores. by november, i will have updated this and it will probably at least double by that time. now, supposedly best buy was supposed have gotten their shipment of Wii today 10/28 or tommorow 10/29, this date was pushed back to the luanch day of 11/19 most likely to stop the overload of employees checking. again, this is tentative inventory that has yet to be recived by ANY stores, but it is the actual information from the inventory orders.

Well if that is the standard distribution of Wii hardware then that is great news. I don't want to have any problems acquiring one on launch day.
That'd be awesome news. I wonder, though: how is Best Buy getting such huge numbers while TRU gets so few?
I would not be surprised if TRU was only allocating a portion of their stock to preorders. It does them no good to be the official launch partner of the Wii if they have no consoles available on launch day.

I think it was said that they were pre ordering only 50% or lower of what their total number is. So if the store was pre ordering say 25-30 Wii, then that means they probably were given around 60 Wii's total

My store pre-ordered 10 so I guess that means only 10 more on the way. Yeesh.

I'm planning to find some store at which to wait a full day or so, but like botticus said, it's kind of surprising to see the launch partner put out such tiny numbers at so many locations.

They could also be withholding a large number for black friday. The launch is only 1 week before. 2 Walmarts near me did this with the DS launch. Told me they were holding them for Black Friday and wouldn't sell to me at release.

Hope this is true, I missed out on all the other pre-orders so now I'm stuck with camping out BestBuy/CC/walmart/Target on launch day.

Unless you have a job (pfft.. those losers), why not play it safe and be there at the start of the opening hour. You should be guarenteed a Wii if you're breathing down the key-man's neck.
What do you think is a good time to show up at bestbuy on launch day?
Now. Seriously go! Run!!!

So will Trauma Center end up being a difficult title to find? Half as many slated for availability as Red Steel.

I'm thinking if I want that game I should make sure to pick it up that morning and not wait on it.
