Rumored Xbox 360 price drop? (March 14) UK only?

I read that the initial price drop in the U.K. is a sign of things to come in the U.S.

Either way, I already have a 360 and very much enjoy it.

I bet this is just due to the currency fluctuations. This may be a sign of a drop in Canada and the rest of Europe in the near future, but I wouldn't read anything into this for the US market.

I am waiting for the next price drop. I think with the PS3 only being $50 more at this point that is looking like a much better value. A higher quality-made, more powerful system with free online and a blu-ray player for only $50(and it comes with a crappy free movie).

It is time for Microsoft to make a move. Fingers crossed for a price-drop soon.

Call me crazy, but I'd much prefer the 20 GB model, especially if they plan on bundling it with BluRay. The price difference between 20 GB and 60 GB hard drives is little, but may be enough to sway people towards the 360 rather than the PS3.

According to VGChartz the 360 and PS3 is neck and neck, and usually the PS3 software outsells the 360 when the game is multi-platform. Might be a price drop to heat things up there as well.

canada already received its price drop, xbox units now cost the same in dollars in canada as in the US. i would be more suprised of the UK didnt get a similar price drop.

What charts are you looking at? Multi platform games on 360 outsell PS3 by between 3 to 1 and 6 to 1, last I checked.

The European charts. Not the US or Japan. In the US the 360 outsells the PS3 software wise we are all aware of that, and in Japan the Wii+DS combo owns everything. Europe is another story and is really close software wise, and hardware wise PS3 is going to overtake the 360 in sales at the current rate.

Europe deserves a price drop. They paid 538USD for a Pro before the drop and they pay 461USD after the drop (which is still a complete ripoff). Apparently MS doesn't realize how much stronger the Euro is compared to the American dollar.

It's long been rumored that the prices in the US would drop prior to GTA4, with the premium going down to $299. I expect we'll see the same $199/$299/$399 sku split in the US soon (next couple of weeks).

These drops are not due to currency fluctuations.

EDIT: The actual European drops as of today result in a 199/269/269 price framework (euros). I still expect 199/299/399 in the US.

Amazon.co.uk jumped the gun a little and reduced the prices earlier today to :

Arcade £149.99
Pro/Premium £189.99
Elite £249.99

an hour or two later they put them back up to the original prices as I think the cut is not officially due until Wednesday.

Do you not understand how it works? Say a job pays 5 dollars an hour here, it pays 5 pounds an hour there. Not that tough...

So? If a product is sold for 350USD it should be sold for the equivalent in Euros, which would be 228. At the price that MS is selling the 360 in Europe, it's a lot cheaper to import the 360 including shipping. Most games are region free, and for those that aren't, a person could flash their dvd drive firmware.

£199.99 (europe) = $402.66 USD (USA)
€279.99 (britain) = $430.71 USD (USA)

I got my 360 for $350....better deal

Main reason they lowered the price was because of the falling usd, thats why the gas price seems to be getting higher, takes more usd to buy same amount of gas everytime you fill up because your money is worth less then the last time you filled your car.
here is the chart http://quotes.ino.com/chart/?s=NYBOT_DX&v=dmax

Yea, Europeans and Britons were already paying higher prices than we were for the same product. I hope that this signals a price cut for the US as well. But it might not be. It could just be exchange rates as others have already said.

I'm still holding out for a larger standard HDD and a more reliable system. Which hopefully may be as soon as this summer.
