GoNintendo.com has posted some 4.25 pages of what looks like a press piece that the Regginator threw out in a Confidential Bin after a meeting. It appears to be the speach Reggie will give on September 14th. Here's what the source says -
I noticed Mr. Fils-Aime putting something in the confidential waste bin, and walked over after he had left for a meeting.. the bin was full to the top as usual, and these screwed up pages were just in reach through the lid (without taking it off and spilling papers everywhere). There’s not much I can do to prove my credibility, however I think they may be of interest to you..
Wholly shit - if this speech is the real deal then I expect the internet to 'splode! What with the excellent launch price at the Head Mounted Display, the Wii will be on the lips of the majority of those interested in gaming for at least the better part of this holiday season.

Wow, almost as amazing as the Wii rumors included are the DS rumors. New Wario World, Metal Gear, Mario Party, the revival of Metroid Dread, and a gyroscope pack a'la the rumble pack. I hope it's true but man, if it's a fake someone really did their homework.

A problem with Oct 2 as a release date is that some of those private Wii parties are going on through MID-October. I think that really pushes the lower limit of launch to Late Oct/Early Nov.

The bundle includes 1000 nintendo "coins" (for the d/l service), one Wii controller, Wii Sports, one classic controller, and a remade version of Duck Hunt preloaded. Again, I hope to good God its true.

OMFGBBQSAUCE.

Strange that you'd get access to Reggie's "confidential bin" and not even bother to pass along some of his discarded horse porn. It just seems kind of rude to dangle this piddling launch data in front of us when you know we're all waiting for Reg's horse porn. Cruel, even.

EDIT: Just glanced over the scans at gonintendo.com. Whoa momma are they lousy. Somebody tried a little too hard on that one. Why not just say that you saw him throw a Post-it in the trash with "$175" and "2 Oct" circled and doodled around?

As much as I'd like it to be true, there are several spelling errors and a "then" where a "than" should have been used on the last page, so I'm going to go with false.

I hope this stuff is true, but the images on gonintendo look kinda fake.
It also seems retarded that this stuff wouldn't be shreded. Ugh, I so want this all to be true though.
This is supposed to be a rough draft.
This is supposed to be a rough draft.
You wouldn't shred a rough draft of anything you print out with vital information about your company?

Almost as bad as those PS3 rumors from a week ago...Almost

Edit: God, I actually read the first page of the "speech" posted on gonintendo. If you believe any of this you should consider off-ing yourself immediately.
You wouldn't shred a rough draft of anything you print out with vital information about your company?
I quoted the wrong post. I was trying to quote the one above you. Sorry.

I shit myself, then realize it's more than likely horseshit. Ah well.

I'm not even gonna bother reading the pages. If it's true, I'll hear it in two weeks for real, if it's not, there's no point in getting all amazed.

The fact that they mentioned Metroid Dread (just happened to browse through them) is enough of a red flag.

Did you guys try reading some of this? On page two, they talk about a Mario Party DS game, a Wario World DS game, a METAL GEAR DS game, and a new gyroscope technology for Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam where you put something inside the GBA slot and you can tilt the DS left and right and whatnot to play Tony Hawk.

If it's true, I'm beyond hyped. If it's BS, Nintendo should take some notes. If it's true about the Wii and the DS games, it's a one-two punch to both the PS3 and the 360. I don't care.. between the Wii and DS, if this is all true, Nintendo has my wallet this fall.

Too true. I know this is some asshole who put this together, but this is the most excited I've been about video games since the day I picked up my Dreamcast. Please for the love of all that is good be true.

The scan has a fake repeating crumbled paper texture on it. I agree with Ugamer_X, off yourself if you believe this shit.

None of us believe it, we just want it to be true. Big difference :)

Among other things, October 2nd seems way too early considering the announcement is happening mid-September. I'd be extremely surprised if this is true.

This all definitely sounds way too good to be true. I think if even some of it is true Sony and Microsoft are going to have a force to reckon with. I'll take the wait and see approach as well.

I could write a better speech.

Use some technical mumbo jumbo, pepper it with business doubletalk like "synchronize our synergistic Wii enlargement blue ocean markets!" Throw in some "Riiiddge Racer!" and "Massive Damage!" And you've got yourself a humdinger!

I'd keep out the giant enemy crabs though, cause thats just silly.

Too good to be true, so fucking good, but fake. "Coins" sounds like a great idea for the online currency though. I'm still going with $200, but crossing my fingers for a black console at launch and some of that shit sounds fucking awesome. I hope at least half of it is close to what really happens...

If they ever do get around to making some sort of Virtual Head Piece, I will be curious if people who wear glasses (ala me) will be able to play - if at all.

I also have strong memories of the Virtual Boy induced headaches.

That Sharper Image headset posted earlier lets you wear glasses with it, so I don't see why not.

This is far too good to be true. All this is, is every Wii rumor currently bouncing around with "confirmation" of its best-case-sceneario situation being true. Oh well, just have to wait till Sept 14!

Yeah, the first thing I thought of with the Headset was Virtual Boy. And I wear glasses. That seems like an odd peripheral, it's single-player oriented.

Even if it was a first draft, you'd think it would be shredded. If a company has a 'confidential waste bin', it's usually a shredder.

175$? Nice. Very nice.

I can definitely see 'coins' as the currency--allegories of SMB. Wonder what the conversion rate is.

Light gun? Since the Wii will have that sensor bar, will the light gun work with RPTVs?

I'd be surprised if it were an actual light gun - not that any of this is true. It would probably just be a gun attachment to allow you to hold the remote as such. Wasn't this already displayed as a model at E3?
I call B.S.
We all call BS, but this is a decent prank in its own right... The best kind of hoaxes are ones where no one gets hurt and have a hint of plausibity.

Even the suggestion that this was fished from a confidential waste bin is a nice touch as it provides rationale for the "crumpled" look of the paper. Confidential bins of that sort do exist and its rather normal to see them so packed you could fish something out of the slot opening.

Of course this hoax falls apart once you notice that the crumpled look is a texture added on a layer beneath the text because the text doesnt show any warping.

Its a nice attempt, but it could have been done a litte better.

WAY to good to be true. Not only do you get a system you get a ton of accessories, 512MB SD card....damn.

"Coins" does make alot of sense for currency. Since MS has 'Points' and Im sure Sony will have 'Points' (What works for others works for them!).

SD cards are practically free, though. I just bought a 1 gig one for my Pocket PC for $18 from newegg. Still, not legit, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little one included.

Just some info while reading the 'speech'

- Zelda and Metroid (DS both) to ship by Dec 31st, Wha?
- New Metroid. 2D with 3D styling.
- New Metal Gear (Makes sense...Sanek is in Smash Brawl)
- New Geist for the DS
- Mario Party....Wario (we already knew this)
- 1.5 Million Wiis for USA. I will be outside bestbuy for sure. fuck Sony, fuck MS, I will GLADLY wait outside Best Buy for this baby.

- Not only will Zelda and Metoid be released on Day 1, a New Kid Icarus will come out (Again, NOT surprised. He is in Smash Brawl...maybe there is a secret there?)
- Remake of Duckhunt! Yeah!
-

as much as i want this to be true, i only see maybe the launch package as being truthful. aside from this, I think this has as much credibility as the PS3OMGFTW thread from last week.

The only thing about 'coins' is that it sounds too close to real money. Once someone buys 'points', they're distanced from the amount spent for most people [that's one reason you gamble with chips instead of cash in Las Vegas].

If the price is good, I'd be fine paying actual dollars, so coins are fine with me.

Yeah, I too am calling bullshit on this one. If the Nintendo marketing department knows anything about the Internet, they'll most likely already know that people will pay $250 for this bundle, why short change themselves?

Also, Oct. 2 is WAY too quick after the launch announcement in Sept. The logistics alone will take at least 3 weeks, not to mention it would be a mad rush for all the EB's, GameStop's, Best Buys, etc. to make shelf space for the lineup.

I'm, unfortunately, going to place a wager that the price will be $200 for the core system with Wiimote, classic controller, and "coins". I also bet launch will be first week of November.

My $.02; and if anyone's keeping track I have been wrong before.

99% sure it's fake.

An intern pulling negligent shit like that at the local office would get in trouble and possibly fired for allowing leaving sensitive materials out there.

So there is no way in hell the President of Nintendo (didn't he get a big promotion recently?) would make some stupid mistake like that. Reggie is not going to do something so careless and damaging to his company

Because they are targeting more than just the people on the Internet. If they want to make higher market penetration then they'll need to price the Wii very competitively. By pricing it at $170, that's like saying buy a 1st party game + Bundle for $200! Of course Nintendo wouldn't price their games at $30 but you get my drift.

Ok.. first off.. "confidential waste bins" are usually large trash can kind of containers with a flip-open lid and locked. The slots are normally way too thin to put your hand through (as being able to do so would defeat the purpose). I work for the bank, so I tend to visit the "shred bin" quite frequently.

Secondly, you'd think that a member of upper level management for a firm that develops software would know what the hell MS Office is, and view, edit, or write speeches on a pc/laptop instead of writing them freehand (or printing a draft).

Thirdly.. Opera web browser? Isn't that going against the Nintendo Wii philosphy of "make a console for games, not aim it as an all inclusive entertainment device?"

On a side note.. holy fuck would I like every damned word of it to be true. Also, the gimmick of online currency being called "coins" gives the story some legitimacy.

Also, I believe Reggie is now president of NoA. Before, he was head of marketing. Back in the old days, I believe the president of NoA was also editor in chief of Nintendo Power (I wanna say his name was Howard Lincoln??).

Edit: I was wrong, it was Howard Lincoln who was president, and Howard Phillips worked at Nintendo Power.. but Howard Phillips was an exec. in charge of game development. Explains some of the review scores back in the old days though (credit to Wikipedia for the info).

Kinda funny.. I'm reading the history on this guy, and it seems he left Nintendo, went to LucasArts, and ended up at Microsoft Game Studios.. and is still there.
