Saddest/most affecting movies?
life as a house.
All the sadder for demonstrating Hayden Christiansen can act when he isn't working for George Lucas.
21 Grams and Requiem For A Dream really shaq-fued me up for awhile...
yeah, Requiem was really depressing at the end.

Since this is the Internet I'll admit that the Lion King and Independence Day definitely got me tearing up... they're not even really depressing movies in the first place. Maybe its just overly dramatic scenes where fathers die that make me sad.

My Life with Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman. Man, that movie will make you cry!

The Color Purple made me ball when Whoppi Goldberg's character finally met her son for the first time. GAWD! Choking up just thinking about it. Going to call me mom now. Tell her I love her.

*GLORY (BEST. WAR. FILM. EVER.)-Powerful!
*HERO (THE ENDING CHOKES ME UP)
*MAN ON FIRE (DEPRESSING ENDING- BRINGS A TEAR)

Mmm...the only movie in recent memory that made me all out bawl was a Chinese film called Together. Don't know what it was.

Some random ones that almost did it: the Last Samurai, Uptown Girls, Spider-Man...I know there's more, I just can't think of them...

Any movie I watched when I was a kid. Cause it makes me recall the memories of childhood that are only sweet when through the looking glass.
can't believe no one mentioned Philadelphia
I did. :D It's back on page 2, you might have missed it.

When I saw this thread I instantly thought of Schindler's List. That is just such a sad movie. Really get's to the pit of your stomach.

The Last Samurai
E.T. the Extraterrestrial
Saving Private Ryan
Pay it Forward (very underrated but very sad none the least)
Patch Adams (It's sad to see how a man only wanted good yet he was persecuted time and time again for it.)
American Beauty
John Q (very depressing to see the state our health systme is in. It's only a matter of time, IMO, until somebody actually does thsi.)

I was scanning the thread for it, but must have glanced over it

That's cool. It happens. I'm just glad someone else thought of it other than myself.
Within the first 15 minutes of, What Dreams May Come, I am totally sad.

No matter how many times I see it.

Then, throughout the entire film, you watch a man find his family again.....
Oh my, I'm getting all choked up thinking of it.

This is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time,.... and it's very emotional.
If you haven't seen this one, you're missing out on an all around epic.

The music, the cast, the story, the insight,... just everything a movie should be.
Great movie and it made me cry

I know its been said a million times already, but I'm going to say it again, Grave of the Fireflies. Another one that hasn't been mentioned is Happy Times.

A lot of people have mentioned some really good movies...depressing, yes, but good. Like Schindler's List and Life as a House I really liked. I haven't cried at many movies, but I can remember really bawling during:

Passion of the Christ
I am Sam
The Cure
My Girl

P.S. I think it is so sweet that guys are admitting to movies that touched them. You don't find too many that admit to it in person. I remember how special I felt when one of my guy friends started crying while we were watching The Green Mile....it was so cute.

Yeah, I'm glad that this didn't turn into a flamefest. I would have expected that out of GameFAQs, but not CAG.
I completely forgot about Pay it Forward, also an amazing movie.
I also forgot about it, I agree great movie. Also John Q and I am Sam come to mind.

"Strong men also cry."

Well I was at Walmart tonight and I saw My Life sitting there on the top in the bargain $5.50 bin. I figured since it had been mentioned on here that it would be worth a shot.

Wow, that definetly shoots up there with my other 2 (American Beauty and Life as a House). If you're a sucker for any of these other movies mentioned then you have to watch My Life.
