Saint's Row 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info
The multiplayer sucks.

Hard time getting into matches and when you do, the modes just aren't that much fun.

Bring back Protect The Pimp, Pimped Out Ride, and Big Ass Chains, please.
There's no big ass chains? That was awesome! I loved the team big ass chains where some tool would collect about 10 chains and everybody chases him around the map trying to take him down.

So what is there for multiplayer? Just deathmatches?

The multiplayer was sick in the last one... when it worked.

Even when it was laggy, I still had fun.

I had alot of trouble playing online until I finally changed my NAT type to open. I have had zero problems since.

People are going to call me crazy, but I enjoy this series more than GTA.

Agreed. SR MP was great. I wonder why they didn't even attempt to put it in this one. Makes me wonder what they are up to:whistle2:k

I'll join you in the crazy boat. GTA IV was a good game and all, but they tried to take it way too seriously. I've played SR for around six or seven hours now and I've only done like five or six actual missions because it is so easy to get sidetracked by all the random fun stuff to do.

Played a few hours of single player and co-op (w/Scorch) today.
I'm still very early in the game, but I think SR2 might be more fun than GTA IV.

I think the combat is more satisfying than GTA and I'm a big fan of all the customization options for your character and your vehicles. Yeah, the game and graphics aren't as polished as GTA, but I don't think it will affect my overall enjoyment of the game very much. SR2 seems more forgiving in almost all areas and that is pretty important in games like these.

I'm looking forward to playing more!

Dont forget to buy a bunch of Big Ass Chainz.

Warning to all who haven't yet purchased the game but are planning to: check the game disk before you leave the store.

I was having problems with my game freezing, and it turns out that there was some odd discoloration on the disk and not a programming issue. It appears that this is issue for several people and that something might've happened to a certain percentage of disks during the printing process. Luckily I still had my receipt and was able to get a new unstained copy that doesn't freeze.

So if you notice your game locking up, especially during the insurance fraud mission for the female MD, check your disk.

Now that the game isn't freezing up on me I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Sure it may not have the polish of a game with a 50 million dollar budget, but it makes up for it with all the stuff to do. I've done two story missions and have spent more time just messing around with all of the activities.

Mine seems to have some noticible color differences on the disk but so far I only had it freeze once when joining a co-op game. Does your new copy have a clean even finish or is there still some different colors visible?

New copy has a very slight color difference, but the only way I can see it is holding it up to a light. Previously the marks were really obvious.

Hopefully THQ says something about this since as the publisher it's their responsibility. I'd be pissed off if I was Volition.

I got mine today and it does have a faint color difference in a small section of the disc bottom. Its pretty hard to see though. Hopefully there isnt any issues when i play the game.

Every time I see this game I think of Def Jam Vendetta. Probably because of all the clothes. Yes... only 2 games in history with clothes.

I just played around for about an hour. Had a guy that i ran over glitch into my car, and was stuck as i drove around. Drove up the side of a building about 3 stories with a motorcycle...LMAO. I initially made a chick for my character, but its a little disturbing knowing its the same dude from saints row 1. Plus i dunno, do they have a lot of cute girl cloths in the game? LOL. I want to dress her up in a school girl outfit, short skirt, high socks and all. But if they only have gangsta style clothes i might just make a dude.
My DeepDiscount order is still not shipped. I'm getting bothered now.
I cancelled mine in favor of the TRU B2G1 and got mine that way :)

hell yeah.. we need to do that again, that was fun!

Yeah, Khondor and I played a bit of co-op tonight as well. It didn't seem as smooth as say the GTA IV multiplayer or Crackdown co-op but it was still fun. We made it through two missions and had some general fooling around time. It's nice that you can revive your co-op partner the way you would any of your other followers, which made the missions seem easier since the only way for you to fail is if both of you get killed or you mess up some objective.

I played a few hours...like 5+ LOL. Man time flys when you are playing this game and you dont want to stop. One thing thats already getting annoying is having to do activities to continue doing the story. Im the kind of person who likes to do the story first and then do side missions after. So having to do some in between the story is a little bit annoying.

I did the UFO and Minibike codes and they said they unlocked, but there not at any of my pads. So how far in the game do i have to go before i can use them???
Any tips for the Destruction Derby? I couldn't beat the first level of it.
Use the nitrous a lot. Easy as cake.

The mini-bike will be in the garage of any of your cribs. For the UFO you have to have a crib with a heli-pad, which you get early on in the game.

As for the person with the demo derby question, circle around the outside at the beginning, then aim for a couple of cars that are in one area, then hit the nitrous and ram them. Don't forget to upgrade your car between rounds.
Press down on the left thumbstick.
I guess this is one of the reasons why the horn on cars is R3 button. Which seems odd, because i keep trying to honk at people using L3.

Yeah, my wife really hates that they switched it like that, but I can see why they'd do that. I bet not many people use the horn, while having an easy to access nitrous button is needed for racing/demo derby is essential.

I think that I may found a glitch in my copy of the game.
The mission with Donnie with the Brotherhood every time I get to the first truck they won't let me have the detonater instead I get a Samurai Sword.

I think I have to fully agree with Cheapy on this, I'm honestly liking it more then GTA IV.

Actually, he pretty much nailed exactly what I came here to say, so kudos, sir, you read my mind - loving the game so-far, looks like Gamefly won't be sending me any new games for awhile, since I'm going to have this out for quite some time.

I just defeated the brotherhood gang. Intense stuff, but im loving every minute of this game.

I am kind of disappointed in the clothes/tats. Unless you unlock more later on down the road, but it seems like all the shops have limited stuff as far as clothes go.
The tats are okay, but most of them i wouldnt use. Im pretty pissed that the star tattoo that i had on my characters back calvs in saints row 1 has been removed.

Man i just passed the mission Veteran Child.
That shit was hard, .....only because it was bogus and the chick would end up dying so fast. I had to play this mission like 10 times. Once i was about to kill him and he just turned and shot the girl till she had like 10% health left. Im like WTF! God im glad that mission is over.

Wow this is fucking shit. Im on a mission where you
plant a bomb on a boat and then escape and get out of the red circle before it blows up. Well on my first try i did it, but i fell into the water, and since i wanted to see it blow up, i pressed Y to warp back to land so i could see it. Too bad the fucking computer warped me back into the blow up circle and i failed. Then i tried again and died. My 3rd try it froze so i shut it off.

Plus it seems like sometimes i shoot a guy and he wont die, or i try to shoot the gun but it wont work till i release the trigger and try again.

Make sure you're far away enough from the truck; ie out of the ring. Then the detonator should appear in your inventory. I made the same mistake at first, thought it was a bug, too.

Yep, I was trying out all the gangs out but I've been sucked into the Brotherhood storyline. Haven't finished it yet, but it is actually far more compelling than anything I was expecting.

I too have been kind of disappointed with the clothing options, but I've noticed some incomplete sets of numbers, like the Borat style mankini is women's one piece swimsuit #3 or something like that, and I've yet to see a #2 or #1, so maybe there's more to unlock, or download in the future. I know they came out with a couple of really cool free DLC clothing packs last year, so we can only hope they'll do it again.

I freaking love this game so much. This to me is like the GTA San Andreas for the 360. Air, Land and Sea! :D

Also I know this is such a stupid question BUT, is there helmets in the game for motorcycles?

I'm mugging people!
Just so I can get the mask

Then I think I might do some streaking and flashing after that!

Got the game on Thursday and have been loving every minute! I enjoyed the first Saints Row and this is even more fun. I thought the intro was a cool way to start the game and I'm currently working on the Samedi missions. Haven't noticed any glitches yet other than one where I ran a guy over and he got stuck upside down in the hood of my car, so his legs were sticking up out of the car, haha.

Don't have a co-op buddy at the moment, but would love to try the co-op sometime. If you want to, let me know or feel free to add me!
Also I know this is such a stupid question BUT, is there helmets in the game for motorcycles?
I saw some helmets in a store inside a mall. I dont think its listed on the map. You have to go inside the mall and then the stores are listed. Inside the mall is a leather and lace store, costume store, and a few others. Its on the top island. Beware though, i got lost inside it and was only able to escape by death. LOL

Can someone explaine this to me. I have 31 territories, and bought 4 stores. Now it says you get $500 a day from territories and $200 a day from stores. By my calculations i should get $16,300 every day. But whenever i go to my crib, it only says "take out 8,000" out of your safe. Whats the deal?

That's Odd. Have you tried going to the normal hang out? That's usually where i take out my 16,800.

Is it me or is it much easier to get money in this game?

edit: Has Anybody gotten the base jumping thing yet?

Ive only been getting my money from the first house you get. (i pimped it out to the max, thinking that would help, but it doesnt.) I dont even know where it is in the saints row club house. (if there is some.)

I thought that $8,000 was the max you could hold in the safe. I'm pretty sure that was all it would hold in the first game. It accumulates as the day goes on, so you could technically pick it up $8,000 twice daily if you're getting that much.

Also, mall? Where?

Progress through the story, play activites and buy properties you see. The max isn't $8,000. I was picking up $300,000 at a time at one point.

Found the Stores with the Helmets and stuff. It is Indeed in the Mall.

After you kill in the mall for the Sademei mission, Go look around for the clothes stores on your map
Mayhem activities can get REALLY annoying :bomb:
how?? if you have a rocket launcher, or better yet, the C4.. go to town. Seriously, if you plant like 10 or 12 of those and blow them up quick, the combo alone almost guarantees you $100,000 each time.
