Damn anyone see you add the A2 Toshiba player plus 3 HD-DVD's it comes out to about $218. There is a glitch right now so it takes a extra $20.XX for the third dvd. Or extra $27.XX off to make it $210 if you choose 3 $27 titles...

Very tempting...

Saw it, and bit... looks like the 360 add on is up for sale as this deal is too good to pass up

Get the A2 for around 239
automatically get 3 free hd-dvds (mine were 40 YO virgin, Bourne Supremacy, andEternal Sunshine), plus the glitch works taking the 19.95 off of the 239

PLUS I get 5 free titles from Toshiba for buying the player...

total around 220 for a player and 8 discs

also in a seperate order got Big Lebowski, Blood Diamond, and The Searchers
 
So... I just bought myself an Xbox HD-DVD add on and sent away for the free movies.

I see this deal and I'm thinking I should try to sell my add-on on Ebay (with a copy of 300 as incentive) and hope to get at least $150 for it. It'll come with the remote and King Kong too, plus HD AV cables for the 360.

At that rate, it'll wind up costing me about 50 bucks for a new player, three free movies, and five more movies after that (keeping in mind I have five free ones coming from the add-on)

Is this wrong or should I be listing this item as we speak? Does anyone want my player for $150 shipped even though I just listed my dastardly plan?

Being new to this format I'll ask a stupid question: Does that make it better or worse than the add-on? Because right now I have a crappy HD TV, so the picture quality isn't top-notch but it's still damn good. I figure the A2 has an HDMI cable attachment which is probably better quality-wise than what the add-on has.

well the addon can do 1080p via vga or hdmi plus it doubles as a hd drive for the pc..

regardless... im sure this toshiba player will look great anyways

Correct, and also remember a 1080p TV should display 1080i at 1080p, so either way you should be fine.

The HD DVD player + 8 titles thing is insane. It's tempting to just buy a standalone player now, but I've bought so many titles that I don't think I could come up with 8 that I still needed! I guess I could always sell them. I'll probably hold off and wait for the gen 3 players, I'm sure a similar deal will pop up for those eventually.

I tried, but no matter what I add I'm not getting a discount on the 12th title, so I just gave up.
 
Is the A2 deal dead? I got the HD-A2 with Goodfellas, Clerks II, Pitch Balck, and Happy Gilmore for $238.88 shipped. I tried to go for the three movies for $211 shipped, but it ships from Electronic Expo or something so the discount no longer works.

If you're a movie buff, and don't already have one, just pull the trigger on the PS3...that is one helluva deal with no tax/free shipping!

Went ahead and ordered the hddvd add on for the 360. Never knew I'd be supporting hddvd but those damn free movies did me in :booty:btw I got charged $187.99, still good enough for me :D
 
Had to pull the trigger on a 60 GB PS3, both Pirates and Fifth Element shipped next day for $473!!! I figure that plus 5 more blu-rays is as good as a deal as I will see anytime soon
