Sale @ Amazon - 360 HD DVD player & PS3 offers (B2G1 dead)
A20 seems to be back...A2 appears to be OOS but if you go through the main Amazon page and search it it comes up as in stock through a different retailer.

If someone is after the A2 just check back several times during the day, it was OOS yesterday for a brief period but then came back. I'm sure they are moving as many of these as they can.
Yeah thats why i settled on the A20 because I had the A2 in my cart and before i made it to checkout it was OOS by the time i was ready to checkout at amazon. I have a 1080p projector anyways so its better for me.

Picked up Blood Diamond, King Aurthor and Superman the movie for Blu-ray

Why don't they have the orginal Superman 2? The Richard Donner cut stunk in my opinion.
if they add prestige , i may actually make a br order..

havent bought a br in months...
It seems like it's meant to be part of the deal, but they just screwed up the SKUs or something. Hopefully they get it right this time.

Good question. Maybe they just wanted to push the Donner one since it was new, and the regular version will come later. I did like the Donner one ok though.

I want to get the HD-DVD add-on, but most of the movies they have are OOS and thus the discount doesn't show when I check out. Does anyone know if it just doesn't show the discount because of the DVDs being OOS? Will I still get them for free if I place an order and they are sent later?

I just placed my order for 3 HD-DVDs (all on the list on the first page), but I'm not getting any indication that I'm getting 1 free. If not, I'm going to be really disappointed, especially since they already won't let me cancel my order.

None of my movies have changed to shipping soon, let alone shipped. I mean what the hell? It's going to be at least a week and a half after making the order before I see any of the 9 movies I ordered Monday. Since when did Amazon require Prime membership to get anything in a reasonable time frame?

Don't worry... I have Prime membership and 2 of my movies are out until September too.

Not only that, I placed a pre-order for Metroid Prime 3 back in July and only found out yesterday (on it's release date) that they weren't going to ship it until next week.

I'm more concerned with the fact that it doesn't look like I'm getting any free movies.
I'm seriously thinking about getting the 360 HD DVD add on. 9 HD DVD movies is too good to pass up.
I like the 360 Add-on, but just so you know, the 5 "Mail-in" movies pretty much suck, just like the blu-ray promotion. I bought my HD-DVD add-on too early to get in on the 5 free movies, but you can't get anything you want (there's a specific list).

The 3 extras from Amazon, though, is a pretty good deal, as you can actually get some good ones. And you'd always get the 1 (King Kong) no matter when/where you bought the 360 add-on. =)

BTW, this deal is dead. The links don't work any more. I just called Amazon to try and get my order through on the deal and they hadn't heard of it, so are following up on it with their marketing department (meaning, I'm probably SOL).

It's partially dead, at least for now. The two standalone offers are gone from Amazon, but the 360 add-on and PS3 pages are still there.

yea and that king kong is what introduced true high def for me... amazing looking movie..

I just tried to do the 360 addon and what I've found is that if you add two movies from the list, they end up charging you for one of them. (I chose Serenity and V for Vendetta)

Looks like it's dead. Bummer. I was this close to doing the deal.

Edit: I got the two free movies to work with 300 and Serenity. Crazy.

my 360 add-on, tmnt, 300, letters combo are shipping soon!

all others aren't till early-mid sept...i don't mind though cuz amazon truly raped my wallet. i don't buy this many dvds till deepdiscount's 20% off sales!

You're supposed to choose 3 movies and they have to be instock in order for it to work.

Right after I sell my add-on on Ebay, the deal dies! I'm hoping it'll be like last time and the player will come in stock soon. I'll wait a month for it, I don't care, but as long as it is back in stock by the time the deal expires, I'll be fine.

Did anyone see this thread at SD:

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=141027&t=595595

My order is still pending and charges haven't changed. I printed out the invoice with current price so that if they ship the order and charge more on my credit card without telling me I have proof to show my credit card company. What do you guys think?

Edit: sorry it says it'll change price if you modify the order. I wonder if orders will go through though if it's a mistake.

Just a quick update:

Amazon e-mailed me back and said I qualified for the B2G1 free deal. They said the reason it didn't work is because of the fact that some of them wouldn't be shipping right away which apparently confused the deal, but they are crediting my Credit Card for $19.95 to correct it now. My 10% off HD content deal had also kicked in, so it looks like I'll get back even slightly more than I paid for my 3rd HD-DVD, making my deal roughly $34 for the 3 HD-DVDs. Not such a bad deal. I'd pick out a few more if the deal were still up. Hopefully they'll do more of these.

Anyone think the deal for the B2G1 free will come back? I had a bunch picked out this morning but wasn't able to complete the checkout and was kind of mad to come home from work and have no deal left to get.

sheesh the ps3 offer is just silly. I dont want a ps3, but if i did i would just buy one through the amazon offer and then sell the 8 bluy ray movies on ebay. That would probably be a couple hundred dollars right there, which would help offset the high price of hte sistem.

I would not start buying and watching bluy ray for a few more years, the

as long as the Hd-A2 player goes back in stock im definatly in. sell my dvd player i have now for 50-60 on ebay. so itll end up being 150 for an hd-dvd player and 8 hd-dvds. cant beat that.
You're supposed to choose 3 movies and they have to be instock in order for it to work.
That's interesting, because all of them were showing in stock at Amazon when I was trying it.

Oh, well.

I'm wishing i got in on the A2. I figure if sold my 360 addon & upscaling player i'd get close to breaking even (not to mention the 8 free hd-dvds). The sale was supposed to be going on til next month, so who knows if they'll get more in stock.

I sold my add on for about 115 after shipping. It ran me around 170ish from CC back in the day with the 40 off 200 coupon... of course I now realize that I will be without an HD-dvd player for the next couple weeks while I wait on amazon to ship my order, and my hd copy of heroes arrives today... damn

This may be a little OT but who did you end up picking up Heroes from??? The best I can do it Buy.com with GCO. Did you get it under 60?

Here's some more bad news for those of us that didn't get in on the A2 deal. I e-mailed Amazon this morning basically asking them if the promotion for the free DVDs will still fly after the A2 is back in stock (since the deal did say "until Sept. 25") and here's the partial response:

I'm very sorry that we ran out of stock of this item before we were
able to fulfill your order. Unfortunately, we only recently learned
from our supplier that we would not be receiving more inventory.

Interesting. I'd still keep an eye on it though, I find it hard to believe Toshiba wouldn't want to sell as many players as possible during this peak interest period.

Still, the A20 is a solid deal, especially if you sell a few of the movies that you get for free to offset the extra cost.

Toshiba is coming out with new models in a few weeks (late sept/early oct), so they have likely stopped making the older models and the great prices on these units is due to fact that better units at similar or better prices are coming out in few weeks time....although the current 5 free HD DVD offer will be over by the time these new units actually make it to the store.

I don't mind the extra cost, I just still want the three movies for free. I don't mind paying $20-30 more for the player, but three $30 movies? That's a little too much.

The HD-DVD add-on will probably turn $100 used to sell without much trouble by year's end, so that's always something to keep in mind.

Here's one article I found about them:
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/08/06/toshiba-releases-3-new-hd-dvd-players-under-500

I have my eye on the HD-A35, myself.

Finally caved and got the 360 HD DVD with 300 and Serenity. Wish I could have gotten the extra movie a few days ago... but this is still a good deal.

Any1 know if the 360 w/ 3 free movies will still work???

I wanted to order today (HD addon in stock, 300 instock, TMNT instock, but Happy Feet said 10-12.... but didn't say instock).....

my discs won't ship for another week or so :(
I didn't know free budget shipping took so long for processing! In my past experience it never took this long :(

So far slated for shipping next week, and delivery within 2 weeks. I hope they don't cancel my order due to the glitch :( Last time I checked, all 3 titles that I ordered were in stock too. grr.

I wonder if Best Buy and CC will offer the same deal similar to Amazon's before the new HD DVD players come out. Think about it usually those stores always try to put the new stuff in the floor, and instead of just having the old ones in the back. Why not put a similar deal to Amazon's so people will buy the Toshiba A2 HD DVD player and they will just get rid of them. Too bad I was too late to buy the A2 HD DVD player when Amazon had that great deal. Im hoping Best Buy and CC will offer something similar.

Does Amazon just choose who they use when it comes the Free Super Saver Shipping??? I ordered HD-A20, 40 Yr old Virgin, Blood Diamond, Mallrats, The Departed, Happy Feet, and TMNT, all of the HD-DVD's have shipped with ETA's of 9-11 through 9-17 and the HD-A20 hasn't shipped but is processing with an ETA of 9-6 or 9-7. How does something like that work? On big ticket items do they choose to ship with a higher priority service?

Just Wonderin

Thanks

T

I don't blieve they do, it all depends on their stock. I ordered 15 BR/HD movies and they are shipping from two different warehouses one here in CA and the other from somewhere out east, but I signed up for my free trial of prime so I'm getting them today. :)

how did you manage to get a free trial of prime? Everywhere I looked all the trials are gone and you just instantly get charged 79 when you start.

Really? I've had it as an option for the better part of the year, but never opted for it. I do order a lot from amazon, so maybe that's why? I dunno to be honest. I have heard of other CAGS getting free trials as well, though.

Got my Xbox 360 HD DVD yesterday and it doesn't read discs.

Now I have to wait for amazon to ship a replacement.

Now what to do with the extra UPC code? 10 free movies?
