Already posted in the Video Game Deals, but for those who only browse the DVD forum here's what's goin' on.

Trade in any 4 complete (YMMV my store required boxes) and get 1 DVD $26.99 or less FREE (YMMV on sales tax)!

I used Gamestops 3 for 10 deal, picked a few out of my collection I didn't mind parting with, and picked up the Office Season 1, Greys Anatomy Season 1. Here's the link to the original thread...

(sorry, I dunno how to make it text)

Also, the clerk told me if the DVD was MORE than $26.99 that I could just pay the differnce, so I'm looking to get Lost Season 2 this way. Again, this is a pretty big YMMV deal, but considering this is 1 of the first times Sam Goody/ Wherehouse/ FYE etc. has done it, employees are pretty clueless.

Yea, im interested too. Though they dont really sell many new dvds that im interested in for under $29.99. Even if i had to pay the difference, $7 for a new dvd isnt too bad

I went to Suncoast video and they didn't take all of my DVDs. DVDS they where willing to take where the newest releases which where Hitch and Date Movie. Movies they didn't take where Soul Plane, Casa De los Babys, American Me, and Mean Girls. All DVDs scanned through but the manager said that since they couldn't get that much in return they couldn't allow. This was the same manager who said the sale started on Monday. I thought this included all DVDs.

They are holding out for the people who want to trade in criterions and boxsets apparently. I have a few dvds I would be embarrased to sell for a penny I think i'll try out tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up

Oh, Melissa Joan Hart, "Drive me crazy" indeed...

Related sale:
I stopped by Hollywood video, today, and they were having a sale on used DVDs. B2G2, on all used DVDs. The cheepest ones I saw, were $6. So, for $12, you can get 4 fodder DVDs, that are all recent releases, so Sam Goody should take them.

Also, at Sam Goody, I noticed the Venture Brothers Season 1 was $26.99; just low enough to fit into this sale. So, combine these two deals and get Venture Brothers Season 1 for $12.

According to my location, it has to be "regularly priced" at $26.99 or less. Since Venture Bros. is normally $29.99 it wouldn't count. They also said I couldn't pay the difference if I wanted something for more than $27.

This was a conversation regarding Star Wars OG DVD coming out on the 12th, they said it'll most likely be on sale for $19.99, but the regular price might be $28.99, and won't count towards the trade-in. Also I can't use it for a pre-order, only in-stock items. On the bright side, they said the deal will probably be until the 20th at the least, and no one really knows exactly how long it will be for other than "limited time only".

Dumped 8 DVDs and picked up Entrouage and House Season 1 for $10 or so. 9 of them were not accepted, and 3 would have been Iwas just missing one to make it a set of4. I will try Suncoast later.

woot! I went in with 4 DVDs I'd gotten from the sale I mentioned at Hollywood video, and they wouldn't accept White Noise, because it didn't have a barcode (what DVD manufacturer doesn'tn include a barcode), so I went over to BB, and picked up a copy of exit wounds for $4.
The guy there was different than the one I did the games trade for yesterday, and he was having trouble figuring out how to do the deal in the register. So, what he ended up doing is scanning the 4 DVDs as trade-ins, then scanning the DVD I wanted and reducing the price to the credit I got. So, even though the DVD I wanted was well over the limit (Ren and Stimpy Seasons 1&2, $39.99), I still got it for 4 movies :whistle2:D. If that guy's there tomarrow, I'm going to go pick up something a little pricier.

Some of the artwork HW gets does not have barcodes. Infact, a few years ago most did not. Nowadays its only a few movies here and there.

The reason behind this is because HW use to shrinkwrap used movies (instead of BBV that would put them in lockcases). If you buy a shrinkwrapped copy from HW and try returning it to Wal-Mart, well, you wouldn't get away with it because there was no barcode. They have since changed that and used DVDs are now in lock-style cases like BBV. Hence the return of the barcode.

Seems like it really depends on the person you get a the register. The guy said I'd been the first person that asked about the sale, and they took everything that wasn't labeled as a promotional copy. For some reason, he didn't want a dvd I'd picked up for free at blockbuster, but I peeled the sticker off and brought it back later.

I found a copy of The Office season 2 there! :)

What?!? A week early! I hate you.

My local Suncoast has a total asshole of a manager. I mentioned earlier that he wouldn't take certain DVDs because the trade in value wasn't up to his standards. He was looking for $3 or more for the trade in. I decided to cave in but when I went to trade my 4 used titles for The Office Season 1, he said that it excluded DVD boxsets. I asked him where in the ad does it say that boxsets aren't allowed, he replied where in the ad does it say it includes them. He based his logic that someone might want to take advantage of the sale by trading in sets that are near or at $26.99. WTF kind of thinking is that. I hate it when some stupid jerk behind the register gets some sort of power trip.
