The Sam Goody at Westlake mall in Seattle is going out of biz, 20% off everything. Hardware (PSP, Xbox, (no 360s) GBA, DS, Micro), iPods, games, movies, etc.
New PSP for $199, etc.

Add this to the Media Play chain shut-down and that company seems to have been run by crack monkeys for the last few years.

Is there a list, or chance if anyone knows if any around Portland, OR are clonding?

The one at Bellevue Square closed, too.
But there sale was crap. I went and the best deal was SELECT games at 15% off.
Then 3 days later they were f'ing gone.
Worst closeout sale ever.

Someone told me a week or so ago that our 2 local Sam Goody's and our Suncoast should be starting to close either this week or next, but I haven't checked them out yet. Maybe I'll swing by this weekend & see if they have anything (not expecting them to, but you never know).

Looking for a list now.

How does samgoody, suncaost etc stay open. Anyone who makes their own money, knows they are expensive. A new dvd is $24.99 box sets are $59-$89.

That's why Suncoast closed about 70% of their stores a few years ago, why the entire Media Play chain is now out of business and why massive amounts of Sam Goody stores are closing down. To answer your question, they don't stay open. Musicland Group is a sad, sorry corporation.

They have over 36 million in expenses. No wonder they are going out of business. The OP needs to add Suncoast to the title because they are both closing up. Good for them for trying to sell overpriced items.

Mine wasn't spared. So yay?

I am going to go check on it in 30 minutes or so. Stupid clearance sales, they really make my bank account sad.

For the most part, they are overpriced...sometimes they have some good deals; really depends on what you're looking for. When I try to find anime at a reasonable price (Best Buy is good with most companies except for Geneon), I usually can't go wrong with Suncoast...so long as it is a big title and the first week of release. :p

There's a couple near me going out of business, but I don't recall that they've ever had much in the way of games. I'll have to check it out in a few weeks.

aren't they usually only good priced after rebate? or is that only fye?

Well i can confirm that both Sam Goody and Sun Coast are closing down at the Parks Mall, Arlington TX - was there tonight but they didn't have anything worthwhile. It's 20% video games right now.. not worth it - yet!

Sam Goody in the Circle Center Mall in Indianapolis is going out of business too. 20-40% off everything, but video games are only 20%. Their prices aren't that great even with the 20% off. At 50% they might have something worth buying.

I went to a Suncoast Today in Meriden, CT, and to say it was a joke was putting it lightly. Even being 20% off, everything was still significantly more expensive then the Best Buy in the space right across the way. It looked like all the employees had all the really good stuff stashed behind the counter to be bought when the prices are reduced further.

My thoughts exactly. I asked an employee when they were closing and she very rudely said she did not know. But to her credit she was most likely asked a million times that day. I just wanted to know when the prices will actually be deals and not just brought down to normal prices. I mean 18 dollars for The Presidents of The United States of America CD? Peach just isn't worth that much. I am not shocked at all they are going out of business.

The Suncoast in the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick, NJ is closing. They don't have games, but whatever. I was there yesterday. The sale must've just started because their shelves were still packed. Either that or everybody realizes that even with 20% off, everything's still overpriced. Still, I'm sad because the closest and best B&M hentai-carrying store is closing :( FYE just doesn't have the same selection of naughty anime.

I was at the Sam Goody in South Plainfield, NJ today, and they showed no signs of closing. They'd better not. They're not as close as Suncoast, but they have the second best hentai selection :)

Wow, waste of time visiting my mall today. The 20% off Suncoast & Sam Goody has everything marked down right now doesn't even bring their prices down to what everyone else's is normally.

I did find Viewtiful Joe and Robin Hood at Sam Goody marked with a red sticker "$8.99", and since the sign clearly says "20% off the lowest marked price" I figured that would be a pretty good deal. When I got to the register, however, she told me the total was over $20. When I questioned her on it, she goes "Those stickers aren't even supposed to be on there!". I informed her that I didn't work there, I'm just a customer, and that I was telling her what her sign said - 20% off lowest marked price, and that $8.99 was the lowest marked price. She didn't seem to care, so I told her to just keep them & walked away.

Is it wrong that I'm happy that chick is going to be out of a job soon?

Wow there are alot for maryland, one in white flint and the one in owning mills, forestville, montgoumery mall, anapolis, baltimore, waldorf, salibury, are closing.

THAT MEANS THAT ALMOST EVERY SUNCOAST IN MARYLAND IS CLOSING!! Wow this is a shocker to me, these guys are in almost every mall and where realy popular a few years back for whatever reason. Well time for me to try and rob them dry of there anime.

So for right now its only 20% off??

I was at the Suncoast in the Ballston Common Mall in Arlington, VA on Saturday. It was 20% off for movies and yeah, the prices even with the discount were still no bargain.

Asked the guy working there when prices would drop next. He said probably after the weekend, meaning today. But really, he didn't know.

Wow that is some serious bad service.

I went to 2 that were closing. Their prices were so high, it wasn't really worth it even at 20% off. CD's are regular "mall prices" like $17 to $20 for some. Saw Final Fantasy 8 GH for $16 if anyone thinks that's a good deal. Personally, I didn't care for 8.

All I got was Klonoa Empire of Dreams on GBA for $8. Its on my trade list if anyone wants it. Also before the closing sales, I had picked up a 2 game PS2 pak of Enter the Matrix and Baldur's Gate (both GH), $5 for both. I think that's a pretty good price for those, wish they had more 2 for $5 paks, but that was the only one.

I plan to look into this "store closing" in a few weeks, hopefully by them they will be marking things down by 50% or so and they will have something good to purchase. As it stands now the prices are astronomical in comparison to other stores, so simply put, fuck samgoody and suncoast.

i went to the one here in Corpus Christi a few days ago and I was quickly reminded why I never bought anything from there before the 8.99 game sale. 50% is probably what I will wait for.
