Damn, my order came in but since I was on vacation, I didn't get to receive it. It's sitting in the lease office at my complex. Have to wait till tomorrow to see what version I got.

arcad1 you are lucky to get the pricematch...most BB employees I run into here at CT are pretty aware of the price match policy, and ALWAYS call the store to see if the game/movie is in stock

Wow. Epic fail from Gamestop.com The Samurai Champloo was DVD (which is fine, I just wanted the Blu-Ray since it was presumably worth more and from what I read, the transfer wasn't any worse then the DVD version) Dragonball Z sets were fine, but my Shin Chan set was sealed (resealed maybe) and it had a sticker on it that said "For Display Purposes only" It felt light, so I opened it right up and its missing both discs. WTF, Gamestop.

Yeah. They're sending a request to their "Replacement Team" which is supposed to send out another set tomorrow. Which is cool, I was afraid they were going to make me do some BS like return the set to a store, explain that no discs were in the case, get a refund, and place another order on the site. They're not even making me send back the empty case, so I guess I got a free case out of the whole deal.

wow... so I emailed GS, saying how I really feel that they were hiding a game to give to employees, and the system showed the game instock, and the amount of effort put forth to look for this game was subpar. Along with receiving poor customer service as well.

Some CS rep from online sent me and email (very hasty) saying he is sorry etc. I made a response, than he sent me another email with 20 bucks to GS online. nice.

I may just use that to order samurai 7 online, since its the only thing available, its 35 though, oh well, I got 20 free bucks. Idk though, 35 is still a good price, but amazon has it for almost 25 on DVD.

Is the blu ray version that much better than the dvd? I am sure upscaled the difference is barely noticeable.

I think its just a error in their system I went to the only two Gamestops in my area that have Anime and both said they would have Samurai 7. They look in the back and both didnt have any. I even went in the back where they stored the Anime and none where in there. I went to BB and priced matched and they were real cool about that. I suggest you print-out the webpage mine said they would call over the phone but didnt when I came there.

I'm pretty sure that the Samurai 7 Blu-ray is an actual HD transfer, and not an upscale. One of the few proper Funimation releases on Blu.

My Samurai Champloo set came today and it's the DVD set, but I'm fine with that. I've never seen the series and I hear the DVD is just fine, if not better than the blu in many regards.

I meant the DVD version in my PS3, which than upscales the DVD

Err... An HD transfer is going to look better than standard-definition DVD footage, upscaled or not.

I've never seen it on DVD but most things that i have seen on DVD then on Blu there is a BIG BIG difference. One such instance was I pop'd in the Sleeping Beauty DVD instead of the BR, and there was a huge difference between those. IMO the colors just seemed to pop a lot more, and the detail was tons better. Made you feel like you were there.

With proper HD Transfers always go BR over DVD IF you have a good tv. I use an HDMI cable to a 120Hz 1080P 32in.

I've seen/have some of these on Blu-ray and Samurai 7 is the only one that's worth getting on Blu-ray, unless you want it for the less amount of disc. I don't know what they did but it looked fuck

ing sexy like it was made for Blu-ray. The rest of these are sharp but it just looks like an up-scaled DVD just a tiny bit sharper.

Since I ended up with 20 bucks for complaining, and somehow my edge card now has 20 on it as well (even though I am looking at my last receipt, in which I wiped it all out).
