CAGiversary!

On December 1st I will host a Guitar Hero/Rock Band party for CAGs in my Woodland Hills apartment. I can comfortably host 6 people and will offer pizza, snacks and Diet Mountain Dew. I have an extra guitar, plus four 360 controllers and a Wii with 4 Wiimotes, so all you'd need to do is show up.

The only catch is that I have to prescreen/qualify guests to get my wife to go along with it. You can qualify yourself through one of the three below methods:

1) Get Cheapy, Wombat, Io or Shipwreck to send me a PM on your behalf.

2) Add me to your friends list and play a few games with me sometime.

3) Come up with some other creative way to prove that you aren't a psycho.

Why am I doing this you may ask? I just relocated to LA due to my job and I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to get out and meet anyone.

ok, i will probably be open in late june, but alas, i am a minor, so my parents might not be cool with me going to some random persons house (no offence).

anyways, i will be getting a 360 soon, and i will play some games with you anyways, even if i dont come to your house

Welcome to the Valley. I currently live in Sylmar, and would love to go, but I really suck at Guitar Hero and would embarrass myself.

Still, as a cheap ass gamer, I'd like to meetup sometime. Sadly, I'm not a psycho; just a boring old (33) married teacher. I'll add you to my friends list.

I'm definitely open to the idea of a Valley CAG meetup --I'm eastwards in Granada Hills-- but in spite of Guitar Hero's overwhelming popularity I can't say that I have much interest in rhythm games, which is to say that I suck at them. I guess I play games more for escapism than sociability (my Wii Sports addiction notwithstanding). I'm always good for discussions though; as a former journalist, I've got some great E3 memories.

At the very least, I say we should form a Valley bargain-hunting network.

Sorry for not posting sooner, but I've been cray busy and wanted to set a firm date before posting. Given that its getting towards the end of the month and I have said anything obviously its not happening this month. I'm still open to hosting next month or later, but would need more interest.

DesertEagleXIX, my wife and I share an live account and she deleted you thinking you were one of the many crazy stalker types that sends her friend requests all of the time. I just sent you a friend request and you're in.

Regarding the general concerns about not enjoying Guitar Hero, one of the great things about the Co-op is that you can have varying difficulty levels for the two players. So, you can have one experienced player doing the guitar on Hard or Expert and an inexperienced player doing the bass on Easy.

I'd be down for a CAG Guitar Hero party.

I've only played the first one on the PS2 and always wanted to see how the 2nd one looks on the 360

I'm pretty good at it and a fan of rhythm games ^^b

I'm still up for a CAG party but I'm not sure if we have enough interest yet, do we?

Also:

1) I don't know any of the CAG mods well enough to get a voucher

2) I don't have Xbox Live, or even an Xbox 360

3) I'm not sure how to prove I'm not a psycho

Let's see how this works out for you... A little about myself:

I'm a lifelong Christian, and a preacher's kid (there's a label free of stereotypes ). I'm not a Bible Belt fire-and-brimstone type, but I'm also not a liberal relativist. I dislike being branded moderate --it just sounds indecisive-- though you might use it to describe me. In any case, my point is that I try my best to be a morally upright person, and that includes not being a pyscho!

What else can I try out here...

I just won a President's List medal for academic achievement at the local college; I'm a straight A student. We all know that good students are good people, right? Right?

Ummm...

I've gotten one parking ticket (in a residential area ten minutes into street-sweeping hour) and one speeding ticket (52 mph in a 35 mph zone) and those are the only times I've ever been in trouble with the law. :applause:

Did that help my case any?

I've met this so-called "Rapsodist", and let me tell ya, boy is he ooooone insane freako!! He pushes over old ladies after first pretending to help them cross the street. He carries around a bottle of booze with him at all times so that whenever he happens upon a baby, he can feed it to the kid. He drives around neighborhoods trying to slam into every single trash can he sees. He plays Cho Aniki all throughout the night! By himself! AND writes Cho Aniki fanfics when he's not playing! That, and fanfics involving a threeway....pajama party between Mario, Link, and...Kraid.

I'm telling ya, one demented guy; if you invite him to your party, it will all end in tears.

I finally picked a date. I chose Dec. 1st because Rock Band is scheduled to come out on Nov. 20th.

Desert Eagle and Rapsodist are in if they can make it. That still leaves 4 spots.

I'd be down to go, and I might ask guynextshore if he'd be cool to go as well. As far as I know, we're both in the vicinity so it'd be cool to go hang out at your place, it'll probably be the first time I'll play Rock band :p

Dec 1??? my northridge apartment lease is up december 13th, lol then I am down too.

I might meet rapodist and infishimi.

my answers to question 1 and 2 are the same as rapodist, but for #3 I usually stop by at Family Fun arcade on Balboa n Devonshire for a bit every week,

JEKKI, I knew you were around my area but I didn't realize you were that close to me! I live just a block away from Family Fun. I rarely go these days but I was just there to see a friend play in the Third Strike tourney a couple Saturdays ago.

jkanownik, I think I should be able to make it to the meetup -- it depends on whether I have to attend a church event that night. I'll be sure to post an update in this thread.

Thanks, we can have our CAG mano-a-mano fight to the death showdown*

I'm looking forward to meeting rapsodist, and the infamous Jekki

*Your choice of MK, Tekken or VF :)
It's now locked at DesertEagle, Rapsodist, d34thd34l3r (& friend), Inf^Shini & JEKKI.
I'm really sorry, but I won't be able to make it now. I wish I could but I need to be at a church event that night. Hope to catch up with you and everyone else at a future hangout!

We are still on for next Saturday December 1st. I have my copy of Rock Band in hand. Please send me a PM confirming your attendance with your email address. I will email the details out. We'll probably start things off around 4 PM.

Thanks for the fun times homie... rockband is a fun game.

after I left I ended up getting beat pretty bad at Street Fighter

u guys should play that shyt too!

Well sorry I never got to reply or drop by.

Here's the irony in it all.

I ended up going to a little get-together at a relatives house, and wouldn't ya know it, we ended up playing Rock Band! Haha

Rock Band is hella fun. Put in a surround sound system and fire up "Don't Fear The Reaper" and you'll have yourself a good ole' time ;)
I loved using the "drums"
