These are both popular systems among many non-casual gamers.

Which one do you is your fav? or which one do you think is the best over-all for its time.

I like the saturn just a little bit more because of its library.

Sorry Punq, I ment everything including imports etc...I agree with the U.S. lineup it was pretty weak.

dreamcast all the way, although saturn wasn't bad for its time, the only game i played on it was sonicR (i think it was called).

saturn. ive been wanting one badly. i can get one in box for 40, should i? the place also has a ton of games. any suggestions? (sorry to hijack the thread, answers can be pmed to avoid further clogging)

If you can get a Japanese Saturn, I would get that instead. I am supposed to get the KOF collection from someone next week and since mine is not modded, I can not play KOF 95

O well. My dad is good with stuff like this and maybe he will help me do the FAQ I saw to mod it

does KOF95 need the extra ram cart or something? I also believe there is a ram card you can use to play imports, and for the ones that need its own cart, you can swap it after loading the game.

Casey, the Saturn I sold you is one of the models that has the access light on it - the light that flickers when it's reading the cds. You're supposed to be able to do the swap trick with those to play imports. I've never tried it, but might be worth looking into.

BTW, DC for me. The good Saturn games are too hard to come by.

I have not gotten it yet, but I will try that out. Thanks for the advice

is the swap trick like loading it up to the BIOS or is it where you put in a localized game and switch it?

basically all the fighting games from SNK and CAPCOM. Along with that you have some good shooters (Radiant Silvergun)

The next game I am going to try and get is Mega Man X3

They were both outstanding, in their own right. Saturn holds some of my all time favorites, though. Dragon Force, Shining Force 3, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, NiGHTS, Fighter's Megamix. Dreamcast had many classics as well, but I had fond memories of the Saturn.

I voted for the Sega Saturn. I loved my Dreamcast when I got it mostly because of Sega Bass Fishing (YAY the fishing CONTROLLER!) and Soul Caliber 2. Oh and Chu Chu Rocket (the cat is...big!) but the Sega Saturn... it really was a fantastic system that so many people overlooked and there were a slew of great games for it.

I was faced with either getting a Saturn or a Playstation in 1996.. I chose the Saturn based off of EGM's prediction of the Lunar games coming to the system. This was never realized (they showed up on the Playstation which I got a year later anyway) but the system had plenty of cool games to keep someone entertained...

Anything by Treasure is an automatic boost for a system's rep and it had lots. Plus Dragon Force, one of my favorite games, EVER. Albert Odyssey, Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon: Zwei, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Magic Knight Rayearth, Burning Rangers, NiGHTS: Into Dreams, Legend of Oasis (or whatever the hell that desert RPG was called - I remember when I got this the water effects were totally AMAZING at the time)...

Yeah, thanks Theenternal, make us choose! :D I'd like to say my DC, cuz I'm a fighting nut and most Saturn fighters got their sequels on DC, but I gotta say Saturn, as it pretty much revived my joy of being a gamer. That and I have more imports for Saturn. Guardian Heroes alone made owning a Saturn worth every penny.

I liked both systems....mostly liked the Saturn because of the awesome Fire Pro game it had, as well as being the first "real" home version of XMen vs. Street Fighter (even if you had to import it and buy the damn add-on cart), and Panzer Dragoon Saga. It's depressing that the system bombed so bad in the U.S....although since it's a Sega system I shouldn't be surprised. It doesn't matter how good their systems are, they couldn't market themselves out of a paper bag.

I'd still take the Dreamcast overall though. It had a good FirePro game, a great version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and although no Panzer Dragoon Saga-ish game to fill that slot, Skies of Arcadia was pretty damn good. Add to that stuff like Crazy Taxi, the 2k sports games, and about a dozen more outstanding and innovative things, and it's hard to beat.

Dreamcast...Project Justice anyone...or perhaps some Typing of the Dead, Power Stone 1 & 2. The first console to have a broadband connection to the internet...still the only console you could realistically surf the web...

Way way way ahead of its time. And Skies of Arcadia and RE:CV and the birth of the modern day Sega Sports franchises with online play...Sega Tennis...even Grandia II and House of the Dead II....

and of course Shenmue
