Save Import Gamecube Games on Wii?

I know I've heard people say the Wii just basically becomes a Gamecube when playing GC games, but has anyone tried Donkey Konga 3 yet? I was just curious if it still won't allow you to save on the GC memory card due to region protection.

I have donkey konga 3 coming in the mail as I type this, I can try the other two, but I highly doubt they'll work. I'll post my results in a bit.

Edit: Just tried donkey konga 2, wouldn't read it, looks like the region protection for gc games is still up =|
