SCAM site? check out their prices

Alucard400

CAGiversary!
I found a site that sells an Xbox 360 for 249.95 and I have a friend who is interested in buying one. I've also seen the prices of other stuff on this site and it is ridiculous to me. It's too good to be true to me and the web address seems to change for this company often.
Now, I wanted to know if someone can sh ow me how to check a website to see if it is a scam. someone here on the forums knows how to do it and was wondering if he would show me and it could also help some of the people on here so they will not be screwed over by some stupid websites.

here is a link to the place i found

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING from this site.

Well. that isn't what i'm looking for. What you did is easy judgement. but what about sites that actually sell Xbox 360s for 379.99? or 349.99 and are not major retail/online stores? Some guy was able to check info on the company through their website or just by name and showed many things like when they opened or leased the webaddress. who is the administrator. the business address. etc.

They have the Bizrate logo at the bottom but I couldn't find the name when I searched. Too good to be true in my opinion. I would definitely purchase a PS3 for that price.

Has to be a scam, they are taking huge losses and a Wii for $20 off when they sell out almost instantly at full retail really seems suspicious

Qty SKU Product Price Total 1 SKU16252 Microsoft Xbox 360 Platinum... $249.95 $249.95

sounds like a scam but who knows

What you're talking about is the WHOIS information. Usually I go to http://www.geektools.com/whois.php and type in the domain name (etrofield.com in this case).

The person listed as owning/running the domain is:

Fax: -

Hopewell Jct., NY 12533

I would personally say it doesn't look legit, but it's up to you to make your own decision. Since the creation date (March 30) is less than a month ago, it's a pretty new site.

Also, keep in mind that just because someone has a picture on their website saying that they're certified or safe or anything like that, it doesn't mean anything. It's easy to simply steal the picture from a reputable site and put it on your own.

Well, that WOULD be awesome to get that stuff at those prices, but I check, and every BDC Inc. listed except BDC Door, a garage door company, is un-associated with the Better Business Bureau, so it looks like a scam.

Edit: Actually maybe they aren't a scam, their prices on everything else seem adequate.

i clicked on the pricegrabber 5 star rating just took me to pricegrabber.com should of taken me to the review sections of the site thats pretty obvious that this site has a possibility of being a scam

Its not easy judgement, its common sense. Have you ever heard of the site? Is there a reason to think this random site thats never been heard from has somehow brokered a special deal with all three game companies? Is there a thread on CAG, FW, SD, or any other deal site indicating its legit?

If you answered no to more than one of the above questions you deserve to lose your money in any transaction with said site.
In for 5 Wii's. Thanks OP:D
I'm half asleep and just caught that Bush-to-devil .gif in your sig. Something about the devil is sticking in the back of my brain. Thanks. :bomb:

This site is NOT legit. I strongly urge everyone to NOT buy anything from there, and try to get them shut down or something.

My first rule on the internet, if it sounds to good to be true, its a scam. With the exception of Lion Games preorders it seems.

But this site reeks of fraud. Just tell your friend no site could afford to sell a 360 at a $200 loss per console. Its a scam, no more research is needed than that price being offered on a consistent basis.

The site isn't even working for me

You could always buy a 25 dollar visa gift card and buy a cheaper item on there....
