Screen tearing help?

Hey I have a Dell E207WFP, and a radeon x1300 video card (which will be upgraded someday). Are there any suggestions you guys can give me to fix screen tear? It only occurs when I'm watching DVD's, and rarely happens when I play games.

Any help would be appreciated!

First and foremost, have you upgraded your video drivers? If I remember correctly some drivers on the X1k video cards from ATI had drivers that caused this. This may of been a linux-only problem, but it doesn't really hurt to upgrade your drivers anyways (well.. usually).

Second would be to look for a vertical sync option, but I don't believe I've ever seen one on a program that plays DVD's. They're often in games though, which may help fix that problem in games for you. Though you may see a hit to the games performance.

Third would be to try a different player.
