Is there any flyer of this? Wonder if you could PM the Wii console at F.S. or something for even cheaper. I agree about the lolz. The PS3 looks like a pretty nice deal as well. Oh, if money was not an obstacle........

How's the return policy for video game hardware? My brother and fiance are looking at getting a Wii, and I've been trying to find them the best deal. It seems buying the Wii at Shopper's on a 20x Optimum Day seems the best, and redeeming those points on double redemption days. Does that sound right? Is that a better option, or is this deal the better option?

Its part of a two day sale shoppers is doing thiscoming weekend, ps3, wii, a couple laptops and gps units too, i work for shoppers and the stores do get very limited quantities, be early if you want this stuff

Might as well buy on the frequent 20X days

Eg, $300 ps3 only get 60,000 points

Use them on a regular bonus redemption day (you need more points from something else) and the ps3 ones are worth ~$120

the special redemption(not double, I believe its going to be the same 95,000 points for $250) coming up has never been done before so somewhat of a risk to count on it in the future would increase that to $150

Compare those to this deal, 16,000 points ($32), infamous ($15), giftcard (slim chance of anything more then $10)...and NHL 11. Pretty comparable I guess if you were going to buy NHL 11 at full price and Infamous anyway, but certainly not better then 20x/$200 redemption

Since the wii is just the wii a little cheaper, the 20x points is better, depending on what price it is on that day (sometimes they are $10-$20 off that day)

Don't count on returning it opened at all...but its worth it to get hardware there.

Thanks for that zoro :) I'll let my bro know that the 20x point days are a better bet.

This promo is better for people wanting to SHOP AT SDM ONCE.

The 20X Days are great if you want to collect points and then pick out 200+ of merchandise to get for free.

Most CAGS would not want to spend a lot of time to collect points im guessing.

Just so I'm clear on how these Optimum points work (I literally just signed up for a card)

If I buy a PS3 for $299.99, I would normally get 3000 points. If I buy a PS3 on a 20x points day, I would get 60,000 points. If I redeem those points on a double redemption day, it's the equivalent of redeeming 120,000 points, which equals over $200 in free merchandise? Is that the jist of it??

I thought that you were still required to redeem the same number of points as usual, but that you recieve double the normal reward value. So if 8,000 points normally gave you $10, you would instead receive $20. Because of the way redemption values increase with more points, it makes more sense for SDM to run the promotion this way.

My wife is the one who usually spends our points though. If I'm wrong, then hopefully someone will correct me.

On bonus redemption days it still takes the same amount of points to redeem but the value increases.
And only the top two tiers are affected, the other levels remain the same.

50,000 goes from $85>$100
95,000 goes from $170>$200

>there Are RUMOURs that in two weeks there will be a super event in which the top tier redemption will be bumped UP to $250 value, but It's just a rumor for now!

There is no double redemption day

There is regular redemption day, 95,000 points for $170. There are lower redemption levels with a worse $ per point value, see the website

There is the recurring bonus redemption day which is now 95,000 points for $200, happen about 8 times per year(sometimes just saturday or sat/sun)

There is the upcoming not yet advertised never happened before special bonus redemption day that I believe based on numerous reports will be 95,000 points for $250

You pay tax on the "free with points" purchase if its taxable items

If you buy SDM giftcards before your purchase you'd get an extra 1x points (they don't car for you buying them and immediately using them that instant to do that). Might not be worth it if you want a credit card warranty on electronic item

There are lots of opportunities to rack up points, follow the threads on rfd. If you just go in there on a random day and buy random groceries etc you'll pay far more then elsewhere...but work the sales and point promotions and you can do very well.

Thanks for the correction and clarification.
How's the return policy for video game hardware?
If you "buy" SDM items using points, any returns and you will get the points back, not the cash in return.

Great thanks for the info guys! I would most likely buy the game console on my CC to extend the warranty, and buy groceries/games with the additional points, since those aren't really returnable anyways. I just picked up my Optimum Card today, I didn't even realize my local SDM carries PS3 and Wii products! Awesome!

So are there only specific days where I can redeem 95,000 points for $170, or can I do that any day? Obviously it's worth waiting for the bonus days, but if I need something ASAP it's good to know heh.

At any rate, definitely seems like good deals can be had if I follow the pattern of buying on 10x/20x points days and redeeming on the bonus redemption days.

No return policy there that is clearly written for electronics, YMMV...

Some people on previous deals reported it had to be unopened to get a return, but it depends a lot of the store.

Often, SDM will refer you directly to manufacturer if you have issues with product.

if you have a reason to think they would return the Wii, might not be the best place to buy it...

It looks like the wii is just the original package, no motion plus/resort?

If that is the case this is no deal at all, nothing like paying $210 at most and getting the bundle with 20X points. Staples has had some old white boxes sitting there for ages for $170
