I guess I'm supposed to (dramatic fanfare) RESPECT OPINIONS, but I get the distinct impression that it's a gaming community 'cred-builder' to bash
EGM and that many a gamer holds eternal contempt towards the magazine for poor scores or perceived console biases that directly offend them. Of course,
everyone too emotionally invested in gaming thinks that it's
their console the magazine's 'got it in for'.
Or maybe it's the "Yankee effect", i.e., hating the guys on top. Or maybe people are pissed because 'better' gaming magazines like
Next Generation folded long ago while a supposed piece of birdcage liner like
EGM still exists. Maybe, just maybe, gamers just want the industry standard "7-9 scale", don't want negativity EVER, and prefer magazines that get 'exclusive' after 'exclusive' based on shady backroom dealings with publishers, as opposed to a stance that maintains some semblance of journalistic integrity and keeps the greasy PR types at least somewhat in check.
Yeah, go ahead and quote this and rip into me. Or better yet,
don't, because if this post has got you that bent, then I inherently have no respect for you and can only preemptively recommend that you go

yourself.
P.S. And you won't bait me into a flame war. I refuse to respond to the emotionally-stunted or...per usual, those who relish the opportunity to call me an "insufferable prick/prat".
P.P.S. And for those with reasonable approaches who merely think that
EGM has slipped in the last few years, well, I agree, but this post wasn't directed towards you anyway. Move along, move along.
