Sears ad and mistake (YMMV)

Sears has a sale Saturday only with XBox games listed as 2 for $30 or $19.99 each. In it they list Mech Assault 2, Burnout 3 Takedown, Halo, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Def Jam Fight for NY, Fable, Star Wars Battlefront, and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow.
The mistake is that they clearly show the package for Star Wars Battlefront II. They list a number next to it and I believe that's the number for the first Battlefront, but thought I'd bring it up in case anyone wants to give it a shot. I believe it was this time last year that they made the now infamous Ace Combat 5 for $4.99 mistake, so it might be worth a shot, but this is extremely YMMV. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I got 2 papers and I didn't see the damn ad. I guess no Battlefront for me.


Longshot.......................but if someone could pick me up one I would pay $20 for it.
 
$19.99 is a good price for this game, but it still isn't quite cheap enough for my cheap ass.
 
I'm hitting up Walmart bright and early tomorrow.... if they don't bite, CC is right on the other side fo teh shopping center.
 
I remember last spring or so a Game Crazy ad had a mess up of KOTOR for 19.99....but the ad showed KOTOR II.

I took it to CC, the guy, seeing how it was a 30.00 difference, knew something was up, called game crazy, and the rest is history.
 
Ah crapola. Meant to stop in Sears and see if they had the ad out already to get people coming back tommarow but I forgot. -_- Have to work tommarow and don't know if there's a Sears around there (that's not a Sears Hardware) I'll be able to grab a flier from. :whistle2:(

I still don't see the majority of BB or CC cashiers really being hip to this, it's pretty common one store will be selling a title in the $20 range while the other's still selling it at $50. Who knows though. *shrug*

Meijers on Ill. road said they knew about the price mistake and wont honor


might try Best buy later today but it looks like nothing in here
 
I have my Saturday Sears ad in hand, going to walmart later on today to see if I can pull this off. I live in the Northern Kentucky area, going to try my Alexandria Wal-Mart. Let you guys know how it turns out. I am super Doubtful it will work!
 
Got 4 SW:BF IIs for 80 bucks (Remember it said 19.99 each :))

I PMd them at CC, iirc.

Then I traded 2 sealed copies to Wal-Mart and did the whole, "I got it as a gift, don't have the system, still sealed etc.." and traded both in for Castlevania DoS, Mario Kart DS, and Sonic Rush DS.

Took one in to Rhino for a smooth 30 dollars trade-in credit.

And kept one for myself..

80 Bucks for : Mario Kart DS, Sonic Rush DS, Castlevania: DoS, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and 30 dollars trade-in :).

Basically 80 for 185 :)

I call B.S. on the last poster. Why wouldn't he have pricematched to 2 for 30 instead of 19.99 each...good try...hopefully some people have good luck with this although I won't try to take advantage of obvious price mistakes...

No go at my local Walmart.... I was going to try CC, but the woman at Walmart marked "Misprint" all over my copy of the Sears ad.
 
Managed to pick up 1 for $19.99 at WalMart this morning. They do not match the 2 for type deals. However since the add said $19.99 each or 2 for $30 she rang it up as $19.99. Being polite goes along way...
 
The saturday ad for Sears this weekend. However next week kmart made the same mistake just about in the ad hitting thursday for Friday/Saturday. I believe its 12.99 or 13.99 in the Kmart ad.
 
The Kmart ad should produce better results for us because IIRC there's no stock number or name in teh ad, just pictures of the games.
 
I would totally do this if it wasn't so freaking cold outside, last time when they had a mistake on rachet and clank I raped the local sear and circuit city and then traded em at walmart and gamestop

acutally this is better as some store will not pm on BF. Most store wont care about another store's stock number.

Kmart's is a two-day, not a BF ad. I'll go on Saturday for a PM attempt if they won't do it on Friday.

I would been pissed if someone marked on my ad. I would of demanded to talk to the manager cause they just damaged a piece of your property. Yea it might only been a 50 cent newspaper but they still had no right in writing on the ad.


I got two of them up for trade


i got 2 at Best buy and i got 2 at sears no problems ....

Next week's K-Mart ad is good for Friday and Saturday, not just BF. You may luck out.
 
Did this deal work for anyone at Sears? I'm talking about just walking in, and picking up a copy (or two). Because I'll I've been reading is people getting it through PMs.
 
I would do it at Sears if the nearest store that carried games wasn't an hour away. It's almost guaranteed to work though, since it's no more than bait/switch. Showing one product and trying to push it off as an "oops." Not if I've just driven 40 miles solely for this item.
 
Me and a fellow CAG went out today and got 2 copies at Sears (the last 2) and then tried another Sears to get more for trade fodder. At the second Sears we went to they wouldn't allow us because they caught on to the stock number thing. Then we went to Wally World and price matched 6 copies for 90.00 dollars. So whoever says that Wally won't give you 2 for 30 is wrong, at least in my experience.

Score 2 more for the CAGers! I stopped by my local Sears and I was able to get two copies of Battlefront II for $30 total. Nice! :cool: The manager even rang me up to make sure the deal worked out for me. They did notice the different upc number, but when it came up so say "Battlefront," they still let me have them. One of them is for a buddy of mine for Christmas. Nice deal. Thanks for posting this.

thats the funny part.. Seeing 4 managers trying to figure out why the numbers dont match up and then finally giving up 15 mins later and doing a override... o by the way i wouldnt mention that much that you got 8 copies you people will Call you a hoarder and flame the hell out of you

It worked for me at the bestbuy near me(yonkers, NY: central ave.)
I originaly went to the register with 2 battlefronts (last two in store). The clerk didn't care rang me up, but then needed an approval code from the manager. The manager came over took one look at the deal and said, no way, he can only let me buy one, but not both. And I would have to buy another game for the 2 for 30. I did it, got Call of Duty. The only bad thing is that the took the ad and wouldn't let me keep it [can't go to the other bestbuy near me :( ]. Oh well got my Battlefront for $15 I'm a happy CAGer.

P.S. Does anyone think that if I take the receipt to another BESTBUY showing the PM, that they will honor that???

Agh, I jsut got off work. Did anyone not have an ad and stopped by Sears to grab one? I don't want to have to drive to Lincoln Park, like 10 miles away, if they don't have the ad or the games. :p
 
HOLY CRAP!

i went to cc and asked them if they could pm it, the girl looked at the ad and said sure. she got the last 2 bf there and rang them up at 11.50 a piece. so i got 2 bf for $24. two years of being a cag and this is my first sucessful in-store deal!
 
Aye, CC gives you an extra 10% of the difference off which is awesome. I think we have another compulsively cheap ass adict in our midst. ;-)

Guess I'll take a chance going out to Lincoln Park. If they have at least the ad great since I can hit the stores on Eureka on the way back, if not oh well. Not like I needed to spend another cent on games this year lol.
