Sears ad and mistake (YMMV)

Sears has a sale Saturday only with XBox games listed as 2 for $30 or $19.99 each. In it they list Mech Assault 2, Burnout 3 Takedown, Halo, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Def Jam Fight for NY, Fable, Star Wars Battlefront, and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow.
The mistake is that they clearly show the package for Star Wars Battlefront II. They list a number next to it and I believe that's the number for the first Battlefront, but thought I'd bring it up in case anyone wants to give it a shot. I believe it was this time last year that they made the now infamous Ace Combat 5 for $4.99 mistake, so it might be worth a shot, but this is extremely YMMV. Don't say I didn't warn you.

CC shut me down, though Walmart let me get two, which was all I was planning to get, one for me and one for another CAG. Any more than that would have been a chance of getting shut down, so I didn't push my luck. Plus, they wanted to keep the ad, so I'm OK with that.

Just scored 2 copies at Wal Mart for $15 each... immediately went across the street and traded 1 to GameRush for $35 credit + tax


I'll be back in to GR tomorrow to trade the other. A little extra credit toward my 360 pre-order, thanks to the OP.

Should have hit this deal earlier, probably could have picked up at least 2 more copies... oh well, good to get in on a deal and leave some for other CAG's
 
Found the Sears and it was the biggest bloody one I've ever seen positively massive. There's giant signs all over for the one day sale and there's not a bloody flyer to be found in the store. Didn't ring up discounted either unfortunately but I figured the cahnces were pretty slim on that. Ah well, any of you lucky bums who weren't too cheap to drop a quarter on a paper yesterday have one you'll part with at a reasonable price? ;-)

Excellent deal. I was considering stopping by CC, but I thought I'd give Sears a shot, first. Thanks to Bobweiser for posting this ad mix-up in the first place. :bow: Definitely one of the best CAG deals I've ever gotten.
 
Man, I was SO CLOSE to getting in on this. I could almost cry with the idea of everyone else getting some but me. The guy called over his manager to override the $99.98 price plus tax down to $30 plus tax, and she noticed the number next to the thing and denied me. All after waiting about 15 minutes. :cry: I really wanted it too. So fuckING close... he had both rung up, and in a bag.

I did see some folks posted their stuff on their tradelist. Maybe you'll have some luck there. There's always next week with the BFII goof-up ad for Friday/Saturday at K-Mart. It seems like it's for the PS2 version only, but if you get it PMed at CC or wherever, you can always get a gift receipt for it and exchange it later on the for Xbox version. Besides, next week it'll be listed as being even cheaper and unlike this week's ad, there's no "Battlefront I" number posted on the ad.

Actually, it didn't have "Battlefront 1" in the Sears ad, it had "Battlefront". Not having "Battlefront 2" was much more of an issue.

:whistle2:k It may be because it's getting late, but I think we're talking about the same thing. Of course the first game is called BF. I just called it BF1 for clarification. Sorry if you didn't know what I was talking about. Regardless, try it out next week if you can at CC. For those of you who scored 8 copies, either stay home next week or sell/trade a copy to a CAG. ;)
 
DAMNIT! I almost had them! I tried to PM @ CC. I showed them that I wanted to price-match, but some worker said that they probably can't replicate deals (2 for $30). He went to go ask his manager. Came out... said that I couldn't do it, and explained that the other games around it were old, and that Sears misprinted. DAMN! So close. I also went to Sears to give it a try... I gave them the ad, after a couple minutes the worker tells me that it was a misprint also. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you guys are so lucky.

And aren't you the same one who posted at http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1492257#post1492257 on 11/15 and stated: "Fraud is not good." Did you have a change of heart in the last several days? :roll: I can see doing this once in awhile for store credit with a game/toy/whatever, but I, and a lot of other people here, too think what you did was definitely fraud since it was excessive. There's a fine line between getting an awesome deal and being a Cheap-Ass Selfish Hoarder, and I think you crossed it. At least some people here who were able to snag extra copies have offered them up for trade on the CAG Trader Forums.

I know you guys who bought 4-8 copies of the game and traded them at places like WM for store credit have every right to do that since those stores allow it, but there are plenty of CAGers out there who wanted to just get the game for a cheap deal and PLAY IT. After hearing other CAGers boast about how they traded all their new BF2 purchases into extra $$$, others have a right to be pissed off at you guys, too.
 
hell yeah I'm pissed. I bought the paper yesterday and it didn't have any ad. I went to the store today and found no ad. My only hope was for someone to be nice ebough and sell me an extra copy they actually purchased, but that seems to be an after thought around here now.
 
At least I can sleep well in knowing that one day the selfish hoarder will meet an ironic and poeticly just fate. Something like being crushed by all his greedily aqquired games while most of us would have been thrilled with a single copy.
 
What a ride. Logged in at about 8:50 pm, immediately went to Sears to pick up the ad. . Went to Circuit City, found the las. Sales Associate who rang me up forgot her reading glasses. I praised the Lord

Hey, how about some love for the person who found the deal in the first place?!?!?!?! Just kidding. I'm happy to see many of you made out on this deal. Hope it turns out the same way for me on Friday with the PS2 version! For those of you out there that it didn't work out for, there's still hope. I was in Wally World over the weekend and they handed me a double-sided flyer (black and white copy) that clearly states at the top that they will Price Match any competitors ads on Black Friday. So, for those of you that having been paying attention, use the K-Mart ad and try to get it for $12.99. (Provided they haven't caught on by now and made the correction before the ad actually hits papers on Thursday!) Again, glad to see it worked for alot of you. And good luck to all (especially me!) with trying for Friday.
 
hey, i just wanted to give a shout out to the OP. this is the best deal i've gotten in on. its better than when i got gran turismo 4 for free.

i had really been wanting to get this game, but thought i would wait till a price drop. but now i'm plyaing it and loving it. i sold the other copy to a fellow cag who couldn't get he deal to work. so i basically got the game i wanted for free.

so thank you OP. thank you. :)

It's WAAAAY too late for that.... believe me, Battlefront 2 is in K-Mart;s Friday / Saturday ad, plain as day, only the ps2 version though. As far as I know, they haven't caught on to it yet.
 
Wal-Mart released a press release today that they WILL match all competitors ads on Black Friday so Happy Pricematching, and make those CSM's work while doing overrides. :)

No problem. I'm just gald it worked out for a bunch of you already. I'm biding my time until I can get it Friday with the K-Mart ad for my PS2. I rented it and couldn't get enough, but with money being tight had to wait for a price drop or some miracle. I guess this is my karma. Wally World I'll see you bright and early Friday morning!
