I dug up my Sega CD 2 -- despite the fact that my copies of Snatcher and both Lunars are long gone (at least I still have Shining Force). However, I can't find the AC adaptor. I tried using the one from my SNES, but it's not compatible. I've looked online and they're like $15 + s/h at http://sega-parts.com/ Does anyone know an alternative? I'd really like to play some old-school FMV stuff for some reason...

You COULD download an emulator called "Gens" and the Sega CD bios, then insert the Sega CD disc into your drive, the emulator will run the game off the CD in the drive.. it's how I play my copy of Snatcher since my Sega CD doesn't work.

You can get the Sega CD Bios right here.. best of luck to ye!

Thanks, Scorch; that did the trick. I didn't even know that was possible. Silly me. After all, anything can happen on THE INTERNET!!1

If you would like to have a working Sega CD you could always pick up a PSone AC apadpter. That's what I use for my CDX. I would asume it would work for the Sega CD 2 also.

I assume the PSone adaptor's the same type as the first PlayStation and PS2, right? If so, that isn't compatible with the Sega CD -- which uses an oldschool "thin cord, fat plug" approach.

No, the PSone is the newer, smaller, portable PS1. It uses an AC cord similar to the SNES, not the normal looking power cords that the Dreamcast, Saturn, PS2 and all the others use. I'm recomending it cause it should be easier to locate that rather than an old Sega CD AC cord.

Before you go plugging things in all crazy like, make sure to check voltage and current levels written on the ac adapter. I would think that the cdx might take less power then the cdII because it was more designed to be portable then the sega cd. I just checked my sega cd 2 and the voltage is 9V(volts)(try to match this as close as possible) and 1.2A(amps)(try to get this the same or higher) and you should be set. Also, you have to look at the plug diagram on the ac adapter to tell if the center is positive or the outside is positive and match that up with the new ac adapter.

Oh and my old model 1 genesis AC which is the same as my master system AC is the same as the AC adapter for my sega cd 2. However its different then my 32x ac adapter, if you used the 32x one the adapter would melt.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I'll stick with Scorch's idea of playing my Sega CD games through my PC. Already started on Snatcher and it's great -- no bulky hardware, you can capture screens and quick-save, etc. Only bummer is the startup music is from Sega CD 1. I love the Sega CD 2 music. In fact, I want it for my phone's ringtone, but haven't been able to find it.
