Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone has gone through the Sega CD Model 2 laser replacement gauntlet and come out good on the other side. I've got a Model 2 CD that refuses to read games or music cds, although it will detect a disc. So, I decided to replace the laser.
First laser I ordered, I foolishly bought a Sega CD Model 1 replacement. Second laser I ordered, the KSS 213C arrived, and plugs in fine, but the plastic teeth that line up with the gear are too small. So, now I have no idea which laser to order, or if I can change a gear on the system..
There were at least a couple different Sega CD 2 lasers, one attached via 2 cables, the other attached via a sole ribbon cable. I have the latter.
Any help on what replacement laser will work for me would be of great help!
