Sega Classics Collection - $20 on 2/15/05 for PS2

I want an updated remake of Altered Beast...

Why can't they get off their lazy asses and remake/port modern classics like the Sakura Wars series instead of porting all these oldass games from the 1980s?!
The Altered Beast remake was canceled, allong with a few other remakes they were working on.
Oh?

Juouki Project Altered Beast comming on 1/27

Seems like it might still be on it's way.

But over all Sega nas never been a very "smart" company, I have a feeling they value their arcade catalog a bit higher than Midway's or activision's home catalog which it why they deliver them in smaller chunks thinking "they;re getting much more game for their dollar from OUR package."

As for why this rather than Sakua Taisen, These are proven games to them while ST is a game they may not make back the localization costs on... they did make one that take place in the american steam age apparently but whether or not we ever get it here will depend on Sega can wake up and realize they have a market for their "quirky" titles here.
It's US release was cancelled, they're still doing Asia.

Hehehe you should be more specific. Still I dont see any reason they might not drop this one in our laps too as a cheapass 20 dollar game... it might be a mandate from Sammy at some point.

Well, I looked at the release date and it said cancelled, never occured to me that they'd still release it in Asia.

I have Space Harrier and Virtua Racing. Space Harrier is pretty cool - it looks pretty low budget but it's neat to see the graphics with polygons. Virtua Racing is just an enhanced port of the arcade game. It's missing some of the extra tracks from the Saturn version (and I think 32X too) but it's reasonable.

I have the first Phantasy Star too. Beautiful (mostly) graphics but some disappointing gameplay changes and crappy music. They claim they'll release all three when 1 2 and 4 are released (2 is coming out next month in Japan, 4 is TBA) but I wouldn't hold your breath.

And yeah, considering these were 2500 yen (about $22 each) in Japan, this is an awesome, awesome deal.
