Just got this in my email:

SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that Bleach(tm): Shattered Blade will be available on the Wii(tm) home video game system from Nintendo and Bleach(tm): The Blade of Fate on the Nintendo DS(tm) portable handheld system. Based on the hit animated series, Bleach(tm) offers relentless action and dazzling swordplay with crisp, highly-stylized graphics that deliver an authentic anime experience. The games feature a robust cast of characters voiced by the actors from VIZ Media's award-winning BLEACH anime. The TV show is currently featured in the U.S. on the Cartoon Network's, Adult Swim. With a dynamic cast of over two dozen characters in the games including Rukia, Kon and hero Ichigo, gamers can spend hours furiously fighting while unlocking individual character stories, all based on the animated series' story arc.

The Bleach storyline follows fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki who is able to see spirits, including warriors from the afterlife known as "Soul Reapers". The Soul Reapers are tasked with defending humans from otherworldly beings called "Hollows". One fateful day, Ichigo meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who lends him her powers after she is injured by a Hollow. In the game, players progress through an exciting storyline facing increasingly difficult opponents in their quest to uncover the truth.

"Bleach offers both fans and newcomers alike an action-packed arcade experience that delivers fast-paced swordplay in the tradition of the animated series' intense action sequences," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Bleach is an exciting and highly anticipated property that translates extremely well to the versatility of the Wii Remote and the DS' portable gameplay, and SEGA is proud to be the first to bring the video game series to the North American audience."

"We are thrilled to be partnering with SEGA for the Bleach Wii and DS games," states Linda Espinosa, Vice President, Content Management, VIZ Media. "The SEGA games have enjoyed immense success in Japan, the manga is a top seller in both the Japan and US, and we are expecting great fan response when these games release."

Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Wii enables gamers to wield the Wii Remote(tm) and Nunchuk(tm) as their weapons - slashing, jabbing, and lunging in furious battles like a real Soul Reaper. Bleach: Shattered Blade offers an exclusive storyline created specifically for the Wii with 32 characters to choose from. Once a new character is unlocked, players can replay the story episodes utilizing the characters' special moves and weapons which brings a whole new perspective to the storyline.

On the Wii, each character can perform special attacks that inflict massive damage on opponents with powerful weapons and super power attacks taken straight from the TV series. Characters can summon supernatural allies for battle support such as a giant serpent, a samurai titan, or a tidal wave. Gamers can also square-off against friends in high-speed multiplayer combat in 3D arenas and environments based on settings from the series.

On the Nintendo DS, Bleach: The Blade of Fate offers more of the impressive 2D action and brilliant visuals that have become the hallmark of Treasure, the game's legendary development team. Players will face a variety of opponents as one of 28 highly-stylized characters in intense action-packed battles based on the animated series. Bleach: The Blade of Fate on the Nintendo DS brings a twist to the traditional 2D fighting game with a new kind of battle system that enables players to move between upper and lower split-plane battle arenas to chase after or escape from opponents.

Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the Nintendo DS also allows gamers to build Spirit Card Decks to strategically access power-ups and power-downs to perform special attacks, cast healing spells on themselves, displace opponents, or prohibit them from using their own Spirit Cards. Additionally, gamers can take to the streets battling against enemies with up to four players in fast-paced combat via the Nintendo DS' Wi-Fi capabilities.

Bleach: Shattered Blade on the Wii and Bleach: The Blade of Fate on the Nintendo DS is slated for release in fall 2007, just in time for the beginning of the highly-anticipated second season on Cartoon Network.

For those who don't remember the game:

I wanna say it didn't get very good reviews in Japan. Still, it looks about a 100 times more improved than the Gamecube fighter, where mouths didn't animate and it played pretty badly. I figure if I enjoyed that, I should be able to enjoy the Wii version, especially with Grimmjow in it.

Yea I hope they keep the original voices too. I can tolerate the US voices a little bit but somethings off. I just want a Wii Freeloader to play all the imports that won't make it here. The DS game is great to have too, WiFi battles FTW.

It's not quite one to one, but generally the game works and is fun if you have friends over.

The game is setup so that the characters circle each other in a 3D space. Kind of like Bushido Blade 2 (I haven't played the first one). The C button is for running so you can rush in for attacks. Z is for blocking, but I don't believe it works against special attacks.

Swinging the Wii-mote repeatedly will give you fast, yet weak attacks. Swing the Wii-mote while holding A and you'll do a medium attack. Swing it and hold B and you'll do a strong attack.

Another thing is that if you both do a special attack at the same time, a bar will come up where you have to swing your wii-mote at the right time. Best out of 5. The player who gets the most will win and do a special strike. Tie and you'll both jump away from each other. During the start, we kept pushing A but eventually we got used to swining the wii-mote.

I haven't played through the story mode yet, but if you want, I can give it a go and give you guys an update.

YAY!!!!! Bleach!!!! I am so there! :p Ditto on the voices sentiment, but I doubt we'll be that lucky? *sigh* Anime in English is just wrong...

So this is essentially a fighter with an actual storyline? Or is it a "storyline"? If the story is good, replayability should be awesome, what with 32 playable characters.

I wonder when it will be out...

Been waiting for them to announce this since it was released in japan. Although given the lukewarm reception it recieved, I am not sure if I will buy this day one. Feels like a rental, then buy when cheaper. But who knows I may splurge the day of release.

The last line is kind of funny since they are already on like Episode 40 in the US which is more than halfway through Season 2. By the time this comes out they will probably be well into season 3. Hopefully the DS game will be Bleach 2 and not the first one. It looks like I may need to talk to Sega at E3 next week.

Awesome, nice to see them bring this over, as well as the DS game.

Now if only they would bring the Eyeshield 21 games over, or at least release a Freeloader so I can play the Wii game.

Wow, I completely slept on the announcement of this game in the U.S.

I can't wait. I haven't bought a Wii game since Sonic, which I think was maybe 6 months ago.

I kinda sorta want to get it, I've been watching the show and enjoying it quite a bit, and it looks pretty decent but I just can't make my mind up. There is alot of stuff coming out in the next 2 months so I guess I have to be careful, but I'll probably end up getting it. Kenpachi makes it alllllllllll better....

I hear the Wii controls are pretty good...if only it wasn't 50 bucks...

I don't know about the Wii game, but the DS game is fantastic. If you have to get only one, get the DS game.

Or just wait for reviews?

Anyone play it yet?

I'm getting it shipped from Gamefly, hopefully by the end of the week.

Also, I use to own the JPN version of the DS title, easy one of the best fighting games ever made.

Played it for an hour and a half. Being a Bleach fan I enjoy it so far. I can see how it may or may not b short lived in terms of single player mode, but the wealth of characters and unlockables should keep it for a while. The story mode I feel is a little lacking but it stil serves it purpose.

The Wii control are pretty responsive, they even have a test thingy just to make sure that all the gestures work properly. Favourite charactrs so far are Ichigo and Renji (Renji's Bankai is just insane). I guess having become so used to DBZ and Naruto games over-the-topness in some ways the moves are a littl disappointing.

The game looks great, the characters look just like 3-d versions of their anime counterparts. Music isn't bad, some generic melodic rock to keep the whol thing ticking along nicely.

Overall so far I would say 8/10, take away maybe 1.5 if you aren't a Bleach fan.

Lucky for me, I'm a fan ;)

Is there an option for JPN voices?

i want more reviews! i'm thinking of getting this game, but am not sure if i should shell out 50 bucks or save it for naruto clash of ninja revolution or dbz budokai tenkaichi 3.

i only have room for 1 anime game, super smash bros brawl, and 1 more stand out game (mario galaxy maybe?) after i just wasted my money on NBA Live 2008

No option for Japanese voices sadly. I have to admit that the dub voices are a little lacklustre. A lot of the voice samples used during bankai attacks and the end of battles are a little nonsensical to be honesy.

The unlockables and gallery stuff are a nice touch. It sucks that there aren't many gameplay modes, a Time Attack or Survival battle wouldn't hav taken a lot of effort. Hitsugaya is badass. For real. Hanataro is so freakin funny to play as. His sword attacks heal your opponent. All his attacks involve him falling over an rolling around or getting dizzy.

IMHO I would wait for DBZ. I think it will be the longest and most comprehensive of the 3. Mind you if you prefer Bleach way more to DBZ then you should get this.

Thanks for that, but I'll probably opt to rent all 4 anime fighters anyhow. Sucks they didn't put JPN VOs in, but the dub isn't that bad. Still, I am sort of attached to the JPN VOs.

Just got this on Saturday from Gamefly and it's not half bad. I'm definitely looking forward to Naruto a lot more than this as it should be much better, but it has the advantage of being the fifth iteration of the series over Bleach's second.

I was thinking of getting this yesterday at TRU, but the fact that you can't use the CC or GC controller made me hesitant. I'd have to see how the Wiimote functions with it first before I decide whether or not to take the plunge.

I did get the DS game however, and it's awesome :D

game is worth renting but not buying. played through episode mode just so i can unlock all the players and after that haven't touched it.

WTF can NO ONE offer a real swordfighting game with the Wiimote? Where you can effectively block in all sorts of sword positions as well as attack. I don't even care if this would be in the arcade instead as long as it was properly done. Note I don't say "Blade Of Honor" or "Mazan". I am referring to a real one on one swordfighting game.
I would say DBZ because of the Wi-Fi option.
That's a nice feature for BT3, but my friends around here love the Naruto fighting games, so that gets the edge over BT3.
6.3 from IGN.
eek..sounds terrible. thats why i bought Clash of Ninja Revolution...well pre-ordered it (stupid toysrus has it backordered :bomb:)

Played the Japanese version. It's not terrible. Just meh.

Smaller amounts of friends has an edge over Wifi battles with people all over the nation? :p

Yeah. I'm not a fan of fighting random people of various skill levels when I can play my friends, who are about the same skill level as I am and have a lot of fun. It's not like I not going to get both, but Naruto will easily win out on MP for me.
