Selling DLC on ebay - how safe for the seller?

Decided to put up my GOW2 gold lancer code and to my amazement it's over $50 right now.

However, the two people in a bidding war over it both have relatively new ebay accounts with only 1 feedback apiece.

I'm worried about emailing out the code and instantly getting a paypal dispute with them claiming that it didn't work.

At least if it was an expensive physical item I could just get tracking or delivery confirmation. But once they have the code that's it.

Anyone ever have any issues?

I've sold a few DLC items without actually mailing the physical card out and haven't had any problems, but just to be on the safe side you should probably mail it out since these are new members.

I've had some members with little to no feedback win something and the worst that's happened is they just never paid for the item so I had to relist it. Sometimes though a newbie that registered the same day the auction ended actually paid and left positive feedback. So you really never know, but since your auction is over $50 then it'd probably be best to play it on the safe side.

Technically its illegal to sell a code, so what you are selling is the piece of paper that happens to have a code on it. Make sure you send the phyisical card as you will lose any dispute if you don't send.

Yes that is possible to, you are selling a piece of paper with a code on it, not a code. Its stupid but thats how ebay works.

I have sold at least a hundred DLC codes on Ebay (but I always had the cards with the codes). I gave the option of either emailing it or mailing it, and 90% of the time they chose email. I am very surprised I never had a scammer as it would be very easy to lose in a dispute. As others have said, definitely have the card handy and I would suggest giving the buyer the option of emailing it or mailing it.
