Because the current 360's have a high failure rate, it will be hard to sell a 360 if the warranty is not transferable. I bought it at Best Buy.

Does anyone know if warranty is transferable? I am searching through forums to find out, but help is always welcome.

Microsoft Warranty or Best Buy Warranty?

Microsoft one is - read the directions on the back of the physical warranty they mailed to you, there's fine print about transferring ownership - it involves mailing something to a listed address confirming it.

I would assume the Best Buy Warranty has the same type of text on the warranty itself, just go look at it.

And thanks for the info. I read up about needing the receipt, so I will try to go to Best Buy and see if I can get another receipt printed out that doesn't have all my info on it. Anyone know if that's possible?

Edit: I just read more, and found that warranty is not transferable?

 • This Limited Warranty applies to the original retail purchaser only and may not be assigned or transferred. However, some jurisdictions extend the protection of implied warranties to subsequent consumers and therefore this limitation may not apply to you
Are you talking about the standard warranty that comes with the purchase of the console, or the extended warranty (that you pay $50 extra for?) The second is definitely transferable, I don't know about the first.
The standard microsoft warranty.

If you haven't already registered your system at Xbox.com I would think that whoever buys your system can at least get a warranty from the manufacture date (instead of your purchase date). They'd just have to tell them the serial number to get it registered at Xbox.com.
