So like many, I bought the wii the day it came out, excited for all the fun games (I did not have a 360). Well, was I disappointed. There were no games I was REALLY excited for, except for SSBB and a few others... I've been thinking of Selling my Wii with everything in it, but I don't really know how I can, heres why.

My Parents will NOT let me sell on Ebay, Amazon, or anything online. The only place they will let me sell at is a "reputable" store, which around here is only gamestop (We have FYE, BB, CC, Sears, BlockBuster, etc, but none that I know of take games. We don't have Gamecrazy, etc. Im in Florida). I'd probably get what, $300, for my wii, 9 games, 3 controllers, 3 nunchuks and a classic? On ebay I'd get tons more. Does anyone have any ideas of ways I can convince them to let me sell on amazon (They love amazon, just not the marketplace). If I can't convince them, which is probably right, does anyone know about how much I would get at Gamestop or is there another store in Florida that takes trade-ins for better pricing than Gamestop?

Thanks :)
Wait your parents wont let you sell something that you bought?
Yeah.. I bought it with my money I saved up.

edit: It's not that they won't let me sell it, it's that they won't let me use ebay or sell it online.

No... I'm in high school. but haha i get it :\

And I was thinking of checking FYE, maybe i'll give them a call. Thanks

Does anyone know the wii console trade in prices? Or the link to that CAG wiki trade in thingy?

Tell them you are selling it on CAG or getting divorce papers...

seriously though, why not reassure your parents by explaining to them how the feedback system works and such. I mean you already have 3 trades so its not like you've never done it before.

I've tried, and i'm planning on trying again, its just when I mention "sell" or "ebay" or "marketplace" they walk away... Maybe i'll make a powerpoint with paypal videos and such... Thanks

That link to the CAG Wiki would be nice :)

Your parents hate you.

Skip those Amazon fees!
IF you can convince them to let you sell there...save some time and trouble and post it on craigslist.org
and no PayPal...make it a cash only transaction...

You may be better off selling it to a local friend if your parents wont let you do anything online. I think the best trade-in I have seen was $140 for the system, extra remotes were between $15-$20.
In other words.. it's not worth it.
Maybe i'll keep the system and sell the games when a promotion is going on? :( I don't know who I'd sell it to....
Where in Florida are you located?

sell em on CAG. what games do you have? what about pricing? they'd probably change their mind if they saw a check or money order in your hand. PM me, if they're good games, I'd probably give you more than you'd get credit for, controllers and nunchucks too.
South Florida - Palm Beach County Area
If my aunt was still in that area I'd definitely buy it off of you.

I'd just sell it on ebay anyways and tell them a friend bought it from u. Granted by law ... what you own is actually theirs until you're 18 ...

Actually before I continue, what are their reasons for you not wanting to sell on Amazon / Ebay?

Could you suggest craigslist? You could sell it for a higher price but meet up with the person and get cash (and have your parents go with you to meet them). Of course, they would probably be against meeting somebody in person, but if they go with and get cash, they might be willing.

Ah, that's too bad - if you were in the Tampa Bay area, I might buy the stuff from you. Maybe you should try posting it in the regional forum in the hopes of getting a local sale.

Doubt they would want a local sale... It's that they are sometimes a little paranoid when it comes to giving away our address, names etc to people... I think I'll just keep hinting at selling it every so often and see if they eventually get the hint. Thanks for all the help... I'll bookmark this thread and try to use the ideas to change their minds.

Yeah definitely go for the craigslist angle. And as for giving away your address, etc, you can arrange to meet the person at a neutral safe place with your parents to complete the sale. Seriously, people are desperate for Wiis (normal, non-sketchy people) and if you put a fair price on the stuff somebody will snatch it up.
