From Cheapy's post back about 2 months ago:
Yes, I know the server sucks and yes we are moving soon (less than a month).
We are going to get some heavy duty hardware this time. Dual Opterons and lots O' RAM, and a SCSI RAID array should get the job done.
Thanks for your patience.
My guess is at least 2GB of RAM, if not more. Hopefully more like 4GB.

Current server:
Dual 2.8 Xeons, 1 or 2GB of RAM (i forget, duh) and a much shittier HD setup.

Downtime? Nooooooo!!!! Hopefully it will be at night...
Simmer down. This'll give everyone time to play all those games they picked up with fierce CAGacity.

XBox Live on the 24th and CAG down later this week.. what the hell, are you guys trying to force me to have a social life or what!?

We all want to see you released into the wilderness one day. That day may come sooner than you think.
that would explain why getting here was so assy yesterday.

Anybody know when the CAG birthday is ?
April 28, 2003 was the day the forums were created and opened, so I consider that CAG's "official birthday".

Mmmmm.

I think that'll do very nicely. :drool::drool::drool::drool:

We bought a new Dodge Viper...gutted the engine out and stuck some php pages into it. Of course it's the hi-octane fuel that makes it go zoom.

:)

I've noticed a good improvement with what's been done so far. Nice and snappy response when going from link to link. The drives and memory certainly are apparent from the old box.

Is the domain change temporary or will we be at cheapassgamers.com permanently?

I dont know why... but CAGacity is funny.
Great idea posting CAGcast #9 during downtime last night! Made my temporary withdrawal easier to handle.
Bingo. Cheap Ass Chat was pretty great too.

Every so often, I get a blank page with "-- thread ratings form here --> " or some variation on that after I click to read a thread.

So actually how has server performance been so far? I have not optimized any of the standards yet like mysql and apache....just seeing how things go from start and trying to migrate everything properly. :)

Any comments on the site speed?

Tabbed browsing is working nicely. All the threads load up immediately. Though sometimes I'll right click to open a new thread in a new tab and I'll be signed out of that tab so I have to sign in to view it.

It's in the OP.

Are the search results etc. going to go back to all results, or stay at 4 pages? (100 results)?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind this, or at least a compromise - 250 maybe? 100 is just a bit tight sometimes.

So whenever I click a latest post from the front page it says i'm not logged, behold when i clicked the cagcast link it went to the page and i was logged in. I am using firefox, have it saved to remember my password with the forum and with firefox.

Something's weird here. When I quote people, it puts my post about 3-5 posts above the post I originally quoted, and says I posted it about two hours prior to when I actually posted it. It has happened to me twice now.

Also, z can't use his private messaging, and he gets a message saying he can only post once every 45 seconds, when it's been at least 10 minutes since his last post.

Getting the same message too.

hmmm...something screwy with the server clock. I reset it to what I think is correct...lets see how it goes.
