Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner (PS2) $25.29 shipped at Amazon
wow I still have my copy that I bought a while back should've waited until it was this cheap...
Same here. Bought it for $30 at Amazon.
I haven't opened it yet because of the backlog... :wall:
I open every new game I buy, even when I know I won't be playing it for a very long time. I do it just to make sure the disc and the instructions are in there and to make sure the game plays.

I'll always remember the time I bought a copy of Rippin' Riders for Dreamcast at Best Buy a LONG time ago. I got to the car, opened it up, and there was no game disc inside! When I took it back inside the employee gave me the strangest look, probably because he thought I just took the game and now wanted my money back. Haha!

Since then I ALWAYS open up my games.

yea well amazon sells new products, unless its from a specific user, so no worries. Unlike gamestop, eb, you best be sure to check your games when buying used.

But hey I remember buying SHenmue 2 for xbox a while back at walmart the game had a funny shrinwrapping I opened it along the way out to my car and little what did I know no discs were inside! No probs getting my money back of course since I didn't hesitate!

I usually just shake the case a bit to make sure there is a disc. I would not open a game unless I am ready to play it. I opened up my copy of MGS2 Substance and hasnt even gotten to the first boss. Now a sealed copy is worth a lot.
I haven't opened it yet because of the backlog... :wall:
Life as a CAG - it's hilarious how many people would want to have that many games.
Down to $25. I ordered one, I own all the other games in the series (sealed) for some reason so might as well finish the collection off.
Updated OP to reflect new price.

Wow, this is usually above my price threshold, but I do like that it is just above the free shipping cutoff (instead of being $24.99 which they could have easily done). Very, very tempting...

You bought Rippin' Riders? As in with actual money?
there's no perfect place to start the series. Digital Devil Saga 1 + 2 and Nocturne use menus, and this game is action/rpg. They're all pretty good games, but good luck getting a copy of Nocturne or DDS1 for less than $50-60.

Might as well go with this.
Wait this game is an action/rpg? is it still turn based like past SMT games?

At least you guys aren't as worse than me. I bought the game on release along with the guide for full price and I still haven't open it yet.

Nocturne and DDS1 made me think all Shin Megami Tensei games gonna be rare. Is Jewel Summoner gonna be rare?

Yes, i remembered i bought Time Crisis 2 or 3 bundle w/ Gun Con 2 from Bestbuy.com. The Sealed & shrink wrap look funny. When i opened it didn't see the game instead lots card board & trashes. At least BB.com customer service rep is very nice & re-send me new copy. Also, i bought Def Jam V. 2 for friend at local Target for $14.XX but when my friend opened it he found AOL disc instead game disc.

Bought when it dropped to $27.99 earlier in the month, amazon easily and quickly refunded me the $2.73 difference when I emailed them.

Same here. So basically I got the game and guide for about $31, not too bad at all!

As for the game, I've played all the way through Chapter 1, and I have to say I've really enjoyed it so far. The game mixes mystery with the occult, but in such a way it's generally light hearted, not "end of the world" stuff like in Nocturne (also a favorite of mine). The game has an awesome soundtrack too, it definitely goes right along with the early 20th century theme the game has.

Plus Raidou Kuzunoha is the best dressed male protagonist in a video game EVAR. ^_^

Anyway, great game IMO. Since its an action RPG you actually get to summon demons and fight in real time, which is a great change of pace from sitting around and sifting through menus.

I remember when I bought the LAST Verbatim 50-pack DVD+R spindle at BB. I opened it up the top 2 were Verbatim DVD+Rs the rest all NEXXTECH CDRs. The plastic wrapping was a bit loose and it was glued right at the seam.

It has random battles, but it's an action RPG and not turn based. You summon demons who are controlled by AI (the AI is pretty decent so far) and you have to slash and block and all that.
dang... I didn't even know this was an action rpg...no wonder they say it's the weakest in the SMT series?
it could also have to do with the creator left atlus and is working for sony right now.

What game is the creator of the Shin Megami Tensei games working at Sony??.....Still..reasonable price for Devil Summoner.

Not sure if he is the creator but he is a key person for the SMT games. He recently worked on Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner

I didn't think this game was that great, but for $25 it's likely worth it considering its value probably isn't gonna go down at all, so you can sell it if you don't like it.

I bought this game (and the guide) last September when it came out for full price. I still haven't opened it...doh! I just saw the guide brand new at Gamestop for $4.99 too.
eh, i'm a big rpg gamer, but I don't really like atlus games. they always seem to dissapoint me
Then which RPGs do you play, since Atlus puts out the most RPGs?

Here's an analogy for you, Atlus is to Square Enix as 2K Sports is to EA. Quality games vs. flashy and expensively produced (but not necessarily better) games.
Anybody get theirs yet?
Mine arrived today. I forgot I had it shipped here to work--it brightened the day a little.

Man, I must've gotten lucky. Mine got here 2-3 days after I ordered it (ordered last Sunday, got here last Tuesday). Awesome game, too :)
