Shin Megami Tensei: Persona - Coming September 22nd (9-22-09)

Yeah I think it's better, but there are tons of things I would change about both games. Obviously it's my opinion as you can't really state something like that as a fact.

My biggest complaint with Persona 3 is actually the school stuff and the endless dialogue (at least it auto-advances cut scenes). I like the dungeon crawl in P3, the fusing and the battles (way better than P2), however I love negotiating in Nocturne and I wish it would return.

I actually liked going to school in P3/P4. But I'll admit I would have liked the option to cut classes and go into town.

Finally finished the last dungeon with a grand total of 57.5 hours. The last dungeon was a bit of a bitch since I ran into a trap door about halfway through that dropped me back at the beginning of the dungeon, so that was annoying. Even more annoying as the final boss, which gained the new ability to pull off two moves in one turn, so the fact that I had a really good healer and tons of potions from having so much money helped make that a little less of an issue. I'll be working on my review in the morning, so I'll let you guys know when it's done.

That's really cool, do you have a website or column you review for?

EDIT - I see you have reviews on this site.

Haha, complaining about a final boss getting 2 moves in one turn. Persona 2: IS's final boss got FIVE turns and on at least one of the turns he could instantly kill up to 3 members of your party (the attack would never kill the last person standing). And you still had to deal with 4 more turns until you beat on it enough so that part wouldn't attack anymore.

at the end of the day tho u beat it so I fail to see the complaint.

that's how the final boss is supposed to be like, despite how hard it appears to be it's still balanced in your favor to win.

Maybe that game should've gotten the Eternal Punishment subtitle instead. Yikes. Doesn 't sound appealing at all.

Looks like the PSN version has been delayed to October 1, so Sony is probably trying to line-up a huge amount of releases for the launch of the PSP Go.

Just a quick update to bring to your attention regarding the digital PlayStation Network version of SMT: Persona for PSP system:
While we'd previously announced that a digital version would be available at launch (on 9/22) along with the retail UMD version, it will in fact slip a few days until 10/1/09.

The UMD version's release date REMAINS UNCHANGED and will still release on 9/22.

So, to reiterate: the UMD version of SMT: Persona is still releasing, as scheduled, on 9/22/09, while the digital PSN version will slide ever so slightly until 10/1/09.

Lastly... we've said it a bajillion times, but we'll say it again: the UMD version of the game comes as a special boxed collector's edition, including 2 music CDs that feature the game's FULL soundtrack, all at no extra cost.

The rest of Innocent Sin was actually very easy, especially compared to Eternal Punishment. Only the final boss was a real challenge.

I'm a little surprised that Atlus didn't try and figure out some bonus for ordering the DD version of the game. That CD is probably the only reason I'm still getting the retail version of the game.

I have an estimated shipping date from Amazon of Sept. 25th. I thought that seemed a a day or two slow...anyone else with a closer date to release?

your date is right if you picked 2 day shipping

Game comes out today... amazon will NOT even attempt to look for this game in their wherehouse till Weds or thursday... then they will ship it either 2 day or 1 day...so you should hve it friday

if you picked one day shipping they look harder... 2 day shipping is now always 3 days after release date

yes amazon does suck

It sure would be nice if Amazon could just go ahead and ship my order that has been marked "Shipping Soon" since yesterday... not that I'll be able to play it till at least this weekend.

Mine wasn't supposed to ship until the 28th but shipped today. Of course, Amazon saying something shipped means nothing... since it won't show up in the USPS system for days.
I'm still holding out for the DD on Oct 1. I'm trying to ween myself off of UMDs. :p
I thought about getting this DD(Especially since I'm getting a Go) but I want the CD and I don't want to wait a week.

I have a ship date of the 28th and it has not shipped early yet. I went with Amazon for the slightly lower price, pre-order bonus, and free shipping. I wonder how many customers they lose when they wait a week to ship after release day?

Edit 9/28: Shipped 9/26 and is in transit with an ETA of 10/3

Funny thing about my order I just noticed.
I got an email from Amazon saying my order shipped.
However, on my Account page for my Amazon account, the order doesn't even appear....weird.
But I am able to track it from the email, right now it's in the truck :)

If you preordered it more than a month ago, it probably has dropped off the recent order list after it shipped. You need to go to the dropdown and select last 6 months or the year in order to see your older orders.

Got mine Friday midday. Jumped straight into it. After a few hours the battle music started to get to me...I like the P3/4 music but this rendition doesn't seem to fit the original idea. The cutscenes are pretty good.

got it off gamefly Friday night... just did not feel like playing it last night... Might pop it into the psp tonight or might just return it monday... Mostly burned out on RPG games after

disgaea 2 and mario inside story in the last 3 weeks
Should be at my doorstep Saturday. FWIW, I ordered with the free shipping.
Yeap same here in New Britain.

I got Halo ODST so I don't know how much time I'll put into Persona, but it will be the first time I've turned on my PSP in 2+ months. It's the only game I'm picking up besides ODST for Sept/Oct due to the budget.
God damn assy animu music they added to make it more like Persona 3 and 4. :wall:
Who would have thought that the guy who did the music for P3 and P4 would do something like that.

I knew it was in there, but it still sucks. Though it's not nearly as bad as the Persona 4 music. Loving this game otherwise.
I loved the P3 music, the P4 music is very unmemorable.
Agreed, I loved the pop-hip-hop mix in Persona 3.

This game is DELICIOUS.

As many of you have read in a lot of threads, I haven't liked most of the new games that I've played this year. This includes Persona 4 (late last year) and Devil Survivor. The only new games I can say I actually enjoyed were Dragon Quest V and Retro Game Challenge. So I've mostly been replaying old ass RPGs all year. While it's nice to revisit the classics, it doesn't recapture the same feelings you have when you actually first play an awesome game. That's the feeling I get when I play this game. It is pure old school awesome RPG action. Even the new music isn't that bad and is pretty tolerable except for a couple tunes. This is exactly the game I was looking for. Of course, it had to have come out when I am just starting my first real job out of college and when I'm studying for the toughest part of the CPA exam, so I won't be able to play it as much as I like, but I hope to set aside an hour or so a day to play it. It's really improved my mood. If you like old school RPGs, GET IT.

Of course I would get it. No brainer to sell your PS1 copy for a boat load and get a remixed and enhanced version of this classic for under $40? sold. Thanks again Amazon.

Yeah I sold it for like $55 several months ago on Amazon. I tried playing it on PSone several months back and simply couldn't, the interface is way too outdated and the translation is total ass.

Yeah this is really improved. Surprised Gamespot gave it such a low score even though this isn't close to Persona 3 or 4 It's still a great game.

That's right, this isn't close to 3 or 4, it's much better.

Anyone know what this "Item under Review" thing from amazon is about:

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!) We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

I got my copy from them but was going to leave it sealed.

Any info appreciated.

I'm not gonna argue with a woman. I've been married far too long to not know better.

Odd. I hope my Amazon copy is ok I've had no problems in the first few hours I played.

I did a quick check on Atlus's forums and couldn't find mention of it. Must be a mistake on Amazon's part or a number of people complained to amazon before updating their firmware.
