Hi folks,

Has anybody played Shining Tears and can give me an honest opinion about the game? I see it for cheap around here ($11.95), and it looks like it has the makings of a great RPG, but the reviews have been HORRIBLE!

Are the critics too harsh?

Any opinions would be appreciated!

:)

It had the MAKINGS of a great rpg, but it failed. Even if actiony rpg's are your thing, you still won't think it's 'great'. It's merely tolerable. For that price though, why not just check it out?

Yeah, this is the one time I agree with the critics. This game was pretty bad. If it's that cheap and you REALLY want to check it out, then go for it. But you really shouldn't bother. It sucks.

I got this game a while ago because I liked the artwork and the combat sounded interesting. Turns out the combat gets real repetitive real quickly. $10 or so is a ok price for a ok game but I wouldn't pay more then that.

I thought Shining Tears was an awesome game and definitely one of the best action RPGs on PS2.

I thought the story was good, but it wasn't exactly original. The characters are pretty cool though and somewhat likeable.

I thought the combat was fun, although if you dislike a lot of hack/slash, you won't like it. I also enjoyed leveling up my stats and felt the mission structure was good. The controls are slow, but I felt it suits the game well.

The artwork and graphics are really good, definitely one of my favorites I've seen in a RPG. Soundtrack is really good too, but not as good as something from Umetsu, Mitsuda, etc.

I feel Shining Tears is very underrated and definitely worth it at that price. I paid $40 used for mine and don't regret it. Only thing I dislike is only being able to create one data save (which cannot be copied). I greatly disagreed with reviewers and felt the game was fantastic. I can't wait for Shining Wind to come stateside (loving the anime, Shining Tears X Wind right now).

The thing that really killed it for me was the long loading times that happened way too often. Unless you have nothing to do, I'd probably say pass and just wait for Shining Wind. It seems to be Tears 2.0 and the videos I've seen have confirmed that there's quick loading and little lag if any.

I dunno. The Japanese made this game one of their high sellers. And Shining Wind was on the top of the charts. Though this might be one huge elaborate joke that sega is playing.

I think a lot of Japanese players bought the game for the artwork, only reason why I played it. It's only $11 might as well pick it up.
