I'm sure this isn't exactly a rare occurrence... but I had a prepaid UPS label on a package and accidentally dropped it off in a USPS dropbox.

I figured USPS would either a) return it back to me for lack of proper postage or b) be nice enough to drop it by a UPS dropbox.

It's been 2 weeks and still nothing. I've even gone by my local USPS office and they told me they wouldn't have it.

Now what? -_-

You need to find the ups depot that handles that dropbox. they have a mistake bin for such occurrances. this is there busiest time of year so i'm sure ther's no one to handle f-ups til later this month but if you call or stop by some-one is aware of the mistake.
(i work for fed-ex and you'd be surprised how ofteen stuff like this happens.)

If you f-uped the other way(usps to ups) i couldhelp you out. I'm a little surprised the local usps doesn't have it in the f-up bin.

I am too. I physically went to my USPS office and the guy told me they wouldn't have it. He didn't even bother to look around... he seemed a bit.. in a rush. I'll probably head there tomorrow and check again.

The item that was packaged is Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition (XB360)... so I'd like to have it back and not have it lost in shipment somewhere.. :[

I don't know how big your post office is, or if it gets frequented often by UPS. The one I deliver to off my route will give me packages that were dropped off there by mistake.

Do you even have tracking for it in case it has been picked up?

A few things could have happened, they threw it away, somebody could have kept it or it's just laying in the building in some pile some where or it's already been picked up and you have no clue because you don't have tracking.

Ups collects mail from the post office. They are returned parcels (RMA labels iirc is what they call it), similarly fed ex too picks up their mail also.

I'm guessing they just gonna either:

A) return to sender
B) post office will just give it to ups when ups picks up the ups return mails.
