Need to know what shipping options to use when selling an expensive console on ebay. I'm guessing I should get insurance. Should I add Signature Confirmation? Is there any type of tracking I should add?

When I used to sell Nintendo Wiis on eBay back in the day, I would use Signature Confirmation and insurance. It's overkill most times but I treat every eBay buyer as a scammer.

eBay requires Signature Confirmation (SC) on purchases where the payment is an excess of $750. PayPal requires SC on purchases where the payment is in excess of $250.

Rule of thumb is ALWAYS add SC if the value is more then $250 as a scammer is most likely going to file through PayPal as the threshold is smaller.

I don't insure through USPS anymore but unless something has changed insurance over a certain amount ($250 I think) requires a signature anyways so it would be overkill to have both BUT double check because it's been awhile since I've insured anything through USPS.

If you are shipping on eBay via USPS, if you choose Priority Mail, you get up to $100 free insurance through USPS.  If you want to get more, feel free to, but I think this would be sufficient for insurance for me personally.

Signature Confirmation is a nice tool that really only helps with two things: Scammers saying they didn't receive the package and to prevent the ever mystical "Porch Thieves", since if no one is home to sign for the package, they will either attempt redelivery the next couple of days, or just leave a note saying their package is ready for pick up at their local PO.

As for tracking, if you use Priority Mail, you will get free delivery confirmation (DC) / USPS Tracking, which tracks it every step of the way (ideally...).

Just don't cheap out and pick Parcel Select, pay for the Priority Mail instead (not the Express option, that's expensive), as the less time the console is out in the wild, the better.
